Earrings with Paua Shell Drops, Feathers and Swarovski Crystal Beads

STEP 1
String one 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal onto a 1-inch eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal beading link. Repeat to create four 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal beading links.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Two 8mm faceted round erinite crystal beading links using one 8mm faceted round erinite crystal and one 1-inch eyepin
  • Two 4mm faceted round erinite crystal beading links using one 4mm faceted round erinite crystal and one 1-inch eyepin
STEP 2
Using flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • Four 1-1/4 inch lengths of silver-plated 2mm cable chain
  • Two 4-inch lengths of silver color 18-gauge Zebra Wire™
  • Two 18-inch lengths of black 30-gauge Zebra Wire
STEP 3
Using round-nose pliers and chain-nose pliers, form a simple loop on the end of the 4-inch length of 18-gauge wire. Form a simple loop on the opposite end of the wire. Gently bend the entire length of wire into a crescent shape.
STEP 4
Cut a goose feather to match the length of the crescent shaped wire. Match the end of the feather up against the wire under the first loop, and tightly wrap an 18-inch length of black 30-gauge Zebra Wire around the feather and crescent wire for ten to twelve wraps.

Separate a few feathers and make another wrap under the feathers approximately 1/8 inch down the crescent wire. Continue to wrap the wire between the feather pieces every 1/8 inch down the crescent wire until the feather is attached along the entire length of the crescent wire.

Wrap the wire tightly for ten to twelve wraps to secure the end of the feather on the crescent wire.
STEP 5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to create the second wrapped feather crescent wire.
STEP 6
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open the loop on a 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal beading link. Pass it through the loop on the kidney earwire. Close the loop.

Open the loop on a 4mm faceted round erinite crystal beading link. Pass it through the first link on one 1-1/4 inch length of chain, the opposite loop on the 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal beading link and the first link on the second 1-1/4 inch length of chain. Close the loop.

Continue to attach one 6mm bicone smoked topaz crystal beading link, one 8mm faceted round erinite crystal beading link, one 4mm jumpring and one 20mm flat round paua shell to the opposite loop on the 4mm faceted round erinite crystal beading link.
STEP 7
Open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the last link on the 1-1/4 inch length chain and the first loop on a wrapped feather crescent wire. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the last link on the second 1-1/4 inch length chain and the second loop on a wrapped feather crescent wire.
STEP 8
Repeat Steps 6 and 7 to create the second earring.
