Creating the Focal Piece

STEP 2
Using side-cutting pliers, cut the following lengths of gold-filled 2.5x2mm flat cable chain: three 7-inch lengths and two 8-inch lengths.
STEP 3
Using side-cutting pliers, cut one 3-1/2 inch length of 20-gauge gold-filled wire.
STEP 4
Using a 7-inch length of gold-filled 2.5x2mm flat cable chain, pass the chain through the hole on the safari jasper donut, wrap the chain around the donut a total of four times.
STEP 5
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 3.8mm jumpring. Pass the open ring through the first link and the last link on the 7-inch length of gold-filled 2.5x2mm flat cable chain. Close the jumpring.
STEP 6
Pass the 3-1/2 inch length of 20-gauge gold-filled wire through the links on the chain at the upper edge of the donut, center the chain on the wire. Bend the ends of the wire together and string over both ends of the wire, one brown wood rondelle and one 6mm gold-filled bead. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and side-cutting pliers, finish the end of the wire with a briolette wrapped loop.

Body of the Necklace

STEP 10
Open a 3.8mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the lobster claw portion of the clasp. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach a 3.8mm jumpring to a 5mm soldered jumpring to create the ring to attach the lobster clasp to.
STEP 11
Using the side-cutting pliers, cut a 12-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. String onto the wire: one crimp bead, a 1/2 inch piece of French wire and the jumpring attached to the lobster clasp. Loop the beading wire back through the crimp bead. The French wire should be passing over the jumpring in a nicely curved tube. Pull the crimp tight against the French wire and the jumpring--leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Place a small amount of gel adhesive inside the crimp (optional).

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using side-cutting pliers, trim the excess wire from the short end of Accu-Flex® beading wire.

For a more finished look, place a crimp cover over the crimp tube then gently close it.
STEP 12
String onto the beading wire the following:
  • One 6mm safari jasper round bead
  • One 6mm crystal copper bicone crystal
  • Six safari jasper chips
  • One 8mm safari jasper round bead
  • One 6mm olivine bicone crystal

  • One 6mm olivine bicone crystal
  • One 8mm safari jasper round bead
  • One 6mm gold-filled round bead

  • One 14mm flat round safari jasper round bead
  • One 8mm safari jasper round bead
  • One 6mm gold-filled round bead
  • One 6mm light smoked topaz bicone crystal
STEP 13
String on one crimp bead and a 1/2 inch piece of French wire. Pass the beading wire through the wrapped loop on the top of the focal piece and back through the crimp bead. Then pull the wire snugly so the crimp and the French wire are closer to the jumpring and there is no slack in the beading wire. Place a small amount of gel adhesive inside the crimp.

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using side-cutting pliers, trim excess wire from the end.
STEP 14
Repeat Steps 11 - 13 to create the second half of the necklace, attaching the beading wire to the wrapped loop on the top of the focal piece.
