Triple-Strand Necklace with Gemstone Beads, Swarovski Crystal Beads and Blackstone Focal with Decal and Chatons

Focal Piece

STEP 1
Using scissors, cut out one blue flower decal to fit the square area inside the channel on the 28x28mm blackstone puffed square bead. Place the decal in a shallow dish filled with water and submerge the decal for a few seconds. The decal will float off of the paper. Using your finger, gently lift the decal from the water and position it on the center section of the 28x28mm blackstone puffed square bead.

You have a little time to move the decal to the desired position while it is still wet. It will become harder to move as it starts to dry.

Smooth out the decal using your fingers and move the air bubbles to the outer edges. Let the decal dry.
STEP 2
Using the Super slicer, cut off 1/8 of the block of clay. Condition the slice of clay.
STEP 3
Paint a layer of Poly-Bonder™ into the bottom of the channel of the stone. Roll a thin snake from the conditioned clay. Press the snake of clay into the channel, pushing it in until it fills the channel.

Carefully glide the Super slicer blade across the top of the stone to remove the excess clay off the top, being careful not to mar the stone or the decal.
STEP 4
Using tweezers or a Tweezer Vac™, pick up an aquamarine chaton crystal and press it into the clay. Press until the girdle is set into the surface but not so far down that clay puffs up around the chaton, the chatons should look more like pave-style.

Continue placing alternating aquamarine chatons and sapphire chatons into the channel, creating two rows.
STEP 5
Place the pendant onto an oven-safe dish and place into a cool oven. Bake the piece at 300-degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes then let it cool to room temperature.

Necklace Assembly

STEP 6
Using flush-cutters, cut the following lengths of gold-filled 1.25mm cable chain:
  • Two 15-inch lengths of chain
  • Two 34-inch lengths of chain
STEP 7
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 4mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the first portion of the clasp, the first link of two 15-inch lengths of chain and the first link of two 34-inch lengths of chain. Close the jumpring.

Set the two 15-inch lengths of chain to the side to be attached to the second half of the clasp in Step 15.
STEP 8
Using the flush-cutters, cut a 22-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire.
STEP 9
String onto the wire: one crimp tube, a 1/2 inch piece of French wire and the jumpring on the first half of the clasp. Pass the wire back through the crimp tube, leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp tight against the French wire and the jumpring so the French wire is formed in a nicely curved tube. Place a small amount of adhesive inside the crimp (optional). Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using flush-cutters, trim the excess wire from the short end.
STEP 10
Pass the wire through the link on the 34-inch length of chain that is closest to the crimp so the chain lies flat next to the crimp. Repeat to add the second 34-inch length of chain to the beading wire.
STEP 11
String onto the beading wire one each of the following components, passing the wire through each 34-inch length of chain after each component so the chain lies next to the bead:
  • 6mm round black onyx bead
  • 4mm bicone aquamarine crystal
  • 6mm round black onyx bead
  • 4mm bicone olivine crystal
  • 6mm round black onyx bead

  • 10mm round black "jade" bead
  • 8mm bicone aquamarine AB crystal
  • Tumbled faceted black onyx bead
  • 8mm bicone aquamarine AB crystal
  • 4mm bicone aquamarine crystal
STEP 12
String onto the wire the focal piece created in Steps 1 - 5. Pass the wire through the chain 4 inches from the previous bead, creating a loop under the focal piece.
STEP 13
Repeat Step 11, backwards, to create the second half of the strand in a mirror image of the first half of the strand.
STEP 14
Open a 4mm jumpring then pass the open ring through the loop on the second half of the clasp and the last link on each of the two 15-inch lengths of chain. Close the jumpring.

Repeat Step 9 to attach the second half of the beaded strand to the jumpring just added to the second half of the clasp.
STEP 15
Carefully open the 4mm jumpring from Step 14. Pass the open ring through the link on the 34-inch chains so they lie close and flat next to the crimp.

Cut any excess chain using flush-cutters.
