Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Beaded Wire and Czech Fire-Polished Glass Beads

Necklace

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • Eight 1-1/2 inch lengths of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire
  • Six 2-1/4 inch lengths of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire
  • One 5-inch length of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire
  • Two 3-inch lengths of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire (for the clasp)
  • Six 6-inch lengths of wired seed beads (bend the end of the wire so the beads do not come off)
  • One 15-inch length of wired seed beads (bend the end of the wire so the beads do not come off)
STEP 2
Using round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers and flush-cutters, finish one end of a 1-1/2 inch length of copper wire with a simple loop, creating an eyepin. String onto the eyepin one 10mm cathedral tangerine bead. Finish the wire with a simple loop. Repeat to create eight 10mm cathedral tangerine beading links.
STEP 3
Create a double-ended eyepin by forming a simple loop on each end of a 2-1/4 inch length of copper wire. Remove enough beads from the end of a 6-inch length of wired seed beads so approximately 1/2 inch of wire is exposed. Wrap the wire several times around the eyepin close to the loop on one end. Gently wrap the wired seed bead section along the length of the eyepin until there is approximately 1/2 inch of beads left. Remove the remaining beads. Wrap the exposed wire around the second eyepin, wrapping several times to secure.

Repeat to create six wired seed bead beading links.
STEP 4
Create a double ended eyepin by forming a simple loop on one end of a 5-inch length of copper wire, then form a simple loop on the opposite end of the wire. Gently form the wire into a crescent shape. Repeat step 2 to attach a 15-inch length of wired seed beads to the crescent double ended eyepin. Create larger loops of seed beads around the eyepin toward the center of the piece.
STEP 5
Using the two 3-inch lengths of 18-gauge copper wire, form a hook-and-eye clasp.
STEP 6
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open the loop on a 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link. Pass it through the loop on the hook portion of the clasp. Close the loop.
STEP 7
Continue to attach the components in the following order:
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 4-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
  • 1-1/2 inch wire seed bead beading link
  • 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link
Attach the opposite loop on the last 10mm cathedral tangerine beading link to the loop on the eye portion of the clasp.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • Two 3-1/2 inch lengths of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire
  • Two 2-1/4 inch lengths of 18-gauge round copper zebra wire
  • Two 6-inch lengths of wired seed beads (bend the end of the wire so the beads do not come off)
STEP 2
Using round-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers and side-cutting pliers, finish one end of a 3-1/2 inch length of copper wire with a simple loop. String onto the eyepin one 6mm cathedral tangerine bead. Finish the wire with a spiral loop. Repeat to create two 6mm cathedral tangerine bead drops.
STEP 3
Create a double-ended eyepin by forming a simple loop on each end of a 2-1/4 inch length of copper wire. Remove enough beads from the end of a 6-inch length of seed beads so approximately 1/2 inch of wire is exposed. Wrap the exposed wire several times around the eyepin close to the loop on one end. Gently wrap the wired seed bead section along the length of the eyepin until there is approximately 1/2 inch of beads left. Remove the remaining beads. Wrap the exposed wire around the second eyepin, wrapping several times to secure.

Repeat to create two wire seed bead beading links.
STEP 4
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open the loop on a 6mm cathedral tangerine bead drop. Pass it through the loop on a wire seed bead beading link. Close to the loop.

Open the opposite loop on the wire seed bead beading link. Pass it through the loop on an earwire. Close the loop.

Repeat to assemble the second earring.
