Brooch with Antiqued Gold ''Pewter'' Christmas Tree Brooch, Fringe Beads, Crystal Rhinestone Chatons and Gold-Plated Brass Chain

STEP 1
Using the G-S hypo cement, attach a pin back vertically to the back of the Christmas tree brooch. Allow 10 minutes to dry.
STEP 2
Use a fine needle file to gently file the back of the gold-plated Christmas tree brooch for optimal adherence of the molding compound.
STEP 3
Open the green Apoxie® Sculpt, 2-part epoxy molding compound. Put on the gloves. Mix equal parts of the epoxy for two minutes, or until thoroughly combined, to create a putty-like texture.
STEP 4


Work the epoxy into the back of the Christmas tree brooch until it fills the entire area. Remove any excess epoxy from the edges of the brooch using a carving tool. Smooth the back of the epoxy using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet.
STEP 5


Using flush-cutters, cut an eyepin 1/8 inch from the loop. Repeat to cut six eyepins 1/8 inch from the loop.
STEP 6

Press the 1/8 inch length of wire on an eyepin into the epoxy on the front of the Christmas tree under the star on the top bough.

Repeat to attach an eyepin to the Christmas tree next to the boughs. Place the eyepins as close to the edge of the pin as possible:
  • The second right bough
  • The third left bough
  • Under the fourth right bough
  • The fifth left bough
  • The sixth right bough
Allow the epoxy to set before assembling the remainder of the brooch.
STEP 7
Using the G-S hypo cement, attach the following Swarovski crystal chatons to the Christmas tree brooch.
  • 2mm light topaz chaton to the star
  • 3.2mm light Siam chaton to the center setting on the first bough
  • 3.2mm crystal AB chaton to the left setting and a 3.2mm emerald chaton to the right setting on the second bough
  • 3.2mm emerald chaton to the left setting, 3.2mm light Siam chaton to the center setting and a 3.2mm crystal AB chaton to the right setting on the fourth bough
  • 3.2mm crystal AB chaton to the left setting, 3.2mm emerald chaton to the center setting and a 3.2mm light Siam chaton to the right setting on the sixth bough
Allow 10 minutes to dry.
STEP 8
Using flush-cutters, cut the following lengths of gold-plated 2.2mm cable chain:
  • One 1/2 inch length of chain
  • One 1-inch length of chain
  • One 1-1/4 inch length of chain
  • One 1-1/2 inch length of chain
  • One 1-3/4 inch length of chain
STEP 9
Using two pairs of chain-nose pliers, open a 3mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the top eyepin (next to the star) and the first link of 1/2 inch length chain. Close the jumpring. Open a 3mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the eyepin next to the second right bough and the last link of 1/2 inch length chain. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach the following chains to the eyepins on the Christmas tree using 3mm jumprings:
  • The 1-inch length of chain from the second right bough and the third left bough
  • The 1-1/4 inch length of chain from the third left bough and the fourth right bough
  • The 1-1/2 inch length of chain from the fourth right bough and the fifth left bough
  • The 1-3/4 inch length of chain from the fifth left bough and the sixth right bough
STEP 10
Open the 4x3mm oval jumpring. Pass the jumpring through a 3.5x3mm green fringe bead and the top eyepin next to the star. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach the following fringe beads to the eyepins on the Christmas tree using 4x3mm oval jumprings:
  • One red fringe bead to the right second bough eyepin and the left third bough eyepin
  • One green fringe bead to the left fifth bough eyepin
  • One clear fringe bead to the right fourth bough eyepin, the right sixth bough eyepin
Repeat to attach the following fringe beads to the chain on the Christmas tree using 4x3mm oval jumprings:
  • One red fringe bead to the 1-1/4 inch length of chain, 1-1/2 inch length of chain, and the 1-3/4 inch length of chain
  • One green fringe bead to the 1-inch length of chain, 1-1/4 inch length of chain, and the 1-3/4 inch length of chain
  • One clear fringe bead to 1/2 inch length of chain, 1-inch length of chain, and the 1-3/4 inch length of chain
