Multi-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Mother-of-Pearl Beads, Twine and Antiqued Silver-Plated Pewter Charms and Links

Necklace

STEP 1
Using a pair of scissors cut the following:
  • Twenty 7-inch lengths of beige twine
  • Three 12-inch lengths of beige twine
  • Six 7-inch lengths of turquoise silk thread
STEP 2
Using a pair of flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • One 3/4 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain
  • One 1-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain
  • One 2-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain
  • One 3-inch length of copper oval link nylon chain
  • Two 8-inch lengths of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire
  • Four 4-inch lengths of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire
  • Two 2-inch lengths of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain
  • Two 2-inch lengths of gold 24-gauge Zebra Wire
STEP 3
Match up the ends of the twenty 7-inch lengths of beige twine and six 7-inch lengths of turquoise silk thread. Tightly wind a 2-inch length of gold 24-gauge Zebra Wire around one end of the strands of cord. Tuck the end of the wire under the last loop of wire. Place a small amount of G-S Hypo adhesive under the wire before tightening the wire.
STEP 4
Separate one of the beige strands out. Tie an overhand knot approximately 1-inch down the strand. String one 4mm round dark green glass bead onto the strand. Repeat to attach one 4mm round dark green glass bead onto eight random strands, placing the knots in random places on each strand.
STEP 5
Separate the cords into three sets of strands and loosely braid the strands. Repeat Step 3 to secure the opposite ends of the 26 strands with a 2-inch length of 24-gauge Zebra Wire.
STEP 6
Place a small amount of G-S Hypo adhesive inside one silver-plated cord end. Using chain-nose pliers, place the cord end onto the wire-wrapped set of cords from Step 3. Repeat to attach a cord end on the opposite end.
STEP 7
Wrap an 8-inch length of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire through the center of a 25mm donut brown shell bead three times. Place the two ends of the wire together and finish the wire forming a double-loop in a wrapped loop. Repeat to create a second double-loop wrapped loop on the opposite side of the shell donut.
STEP 8
String one 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead onto a 4-inch length of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire. Using a pair of round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers and flush-cutters, finish the wire with a briolette-wrapped double-loop.

Repeat to create a total of four briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drops and one briolette-wrapped double-loop sterling silver coral branch drop.
STEP 9
String one 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl bead onto an eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link. Repeat to create a total of two 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading links.
STEP 10
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 6mm jumpring. Pass the jumpring through the loop on the toggle bar portion of the clasp and two 6mm jumprings. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last two 6mm jumprings and another two 6mm jumprings. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last two 6mm jumprings and the first hole on a silver-plated 14mm oval link.
STEP 11
Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the second hole on a silver-plated 14mm oval link and the first link on a 2-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain. Close the jumpring. Repeat to place a second 6mm jumpring next to the first 6mm jumpring.
STEP 12
Connect the last link on the 2-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain and the first link of the 3-inch length of copper oval link nylon using two 6mm jumprings.

Connect the last link on the 3-inch length of copper oval link nylon chain and the first link of the 1-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain using two 6mm jumprings.
STEP 13
Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last link of the 1-1/2 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain and the first wire-wrapped loop on the 25mm donut brown shell. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the second wire-wrapped loop on the 25mm donut brown shell and the first link of the 3/4 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last link the 3/4 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain and the top loop on a silver-plated mermaid charm. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the tail of the silver-plated mermaid charm and two 6mm jumprings. Close the jumpring.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the two 6mm jumprings and the loop on the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp. Close the jumpring.
STEP 14
Open the loop on a 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link. Pass it through the second wire-wrapped loop on the 25mm donut brown shell. Close the loop.

Open the opposite loop on the 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link. Pass it through the first link on a 2-inch length of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain. Close the loop.

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the last link on the 2-inch length of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain and the right arm on the silver-plated mermaid charm. Close the jumpring.

Repeat Step 14 to attach the second 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link and a second 2-inch length of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain to the first link on the 3/4 inch length of copper oval link nylon chain with a 6mm jumpring and the double jumprings under the tail of the silver-plated mermaid charm with a 6mm jumpring.
STEP 15
Open an 8mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the loop on a briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop and around the center of the 25mm donut brown shell bead. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach a second briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop to the 25mm donut brown shell bead.

Repeat to attach a briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop to the bottom of the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp (under her fin).
STEP 16
Open an 8mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the top loop on a sterling silver 21x12mm shell charm and the bottom of the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp (under her fin).

Open a 6mm jumpring. Pass it through the bottom loop on a sterling silver 21x12mm shell charm and the loop on a briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop. Close the jumpring.
STEP 17
Match up the ends of three 12-inch lengths of beige twine. Pass the twine through the two 8mm jumprings attached to the bottom of the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp. Tie the strands of twine in a loose double overhand knot to hold them in place creating a total of six tassels.
STEP 18
Open an 8mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the loop on a briolette-wrapped double-loop sterling silver coral branch drop and the twine loop above the double overhand knot. Close the jumpring.
STEP 19
Separate the first twine tassel. String onto the twine one 6mm round gold satin glass bead. Tie the twine in an overhand knot 1-inch from the top. Repeat to attach two more 6mm round gold satin glass beads 1-inch apart on the twine placing an overhand knot under each bead to hold it in place.

Separate the second twine tassel. String onto the twine one 8mm faceted round olive AB crystal bead. Tie the twine in an overhand knot 1-inch from the top. Cut the twine 1/2 inch under the knot.

Separate the third twine tassel. String onto the twine one freeform frangia mother-of-pearl bead. Loop the twine around creating a 1/2 inch loop and tie the twine in a half-hitch knot 2 inches from the top. Cut the twine a 1/2 inch from the knot.

Separate the fourth twine tassel. String onto the twine one freeform frangia mother-of-pearl bead. Loop the twine around creating a 1/2 inch loop and tie the twine in a half-hitch knot 1-inch from the top. Cut the twine 1/2 inch from the knot.

Separate the fifth twine tassel. String onto the twine one 4mm round dark green glass bead and one 10mm round blue luster glass bead. Tie the twine in an overhand knot 1-1/2 inches from the top. Attach an 8mm fancy jumpring onto the loop on a silver-plated mermaid charm. Pass the jumpring onto the twine. Tie an overhand knot around the jumpring 1/4 inch under the last knot to hold it in place. Tie an overhand knot on the twine 3/4 inch from the last knot. String onto the twine one 4mm round dark green glass bead and tie an overhand knot 1/2 inch from the last knot to hold the bead in place.

Cut the last tassel 1-1/2 inches long.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using a pair of flush-cutters, cut the following:
  • Two 4-inch lengths of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire
  • Two 2-inch lengths of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain
  • Two 2-inch lengths of copper 24-gauge Zebra Wire
STEP 2
String one 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead onto a 4-inch length of nickel silver 22-gauge dead-soft wire. Using a pair of round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers and flush-cutters, finish the wire with a briolette-wrapped double-loop. Repeat to create a second briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop.
STEP 3
String one 10mm flat round gold mother-of-pearl bead onto a 2-inch length of copper Zebra Wire. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link. Repeat to create a total of two 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading links.

Open the loop on a 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link. Pass it through the first link on a 2-inch length of gold-plated 3.2mm curb chain. Close the loop. Repeat to attach a chain to the second beading link.
STEP 4
Form a simple loop on the end of a 2-inch antiqued silver eyepin. String onto the eyepin, one 10mm round blue luster glass bead. Form a fishhook-shaped earwire on the end of the wire.

Repeat to create the second earwire.
STEP 5
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 6mm jumpring. Pass the jumpring through the loop on the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp and the top loop on a 10mm flat round mother-of-pearl beading link with chain. Close the jumpring.
STEP 6
Open an 8mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the loop on a briolette-wrapped double-loop 30x7mm marquise paua shell bead drop and the bottom of the mermaid toggle ring portion of the clasp (under her fin). Close the jumpring.
STEP 7
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create the second earring.
