Choker-Style Necklace and Earring Set with Cupchain Mesh and Silver-Coated Plastic Drops, Focals and Spacers

Necklace

STEP 1
Using scissors cut the following:
  • One 14x2-inch section of glass rhinestone and nylon cupchain mesh
  • One 14-1/4 inch length of black suede lace cord
  • One 1-yard length of FireLine® thread
Using flush-cutters cut one 4-inch (7-link) length of silver-plated 18x8mm hammered marquise chain.
STEP 2
Using a FiberFuse™ thread burner smooth the edges of the section cupchain mesh.
STEP 3
Mix Devcon® 5-Minute® Epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions. Insert one end of the 14-1/4 inch length of suede cord into one silver-plated 13x5mm ribbon crimp end. Apply a small amount of epoxy to the inside of the ribbon end. Using chain-nose pliers, compress the ribbon end over the suede cord. Repeat to attach a ribbon end to the opposite end of the suede cord.
STEP 4
Apply epoxy to one side of the suede cord. Place the suede cord along the top edge on the back of the 14x2-inch section of cupchain mesh. Allow to dry for 5 minutes.
STEP 5
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers open twenty-one silver-plated 8x6mm oval jumprings.

Pass one oval jumpring through the loop on one silver-coated 32x5mm spike focal and the bottom edge of the cupchain mesh, approximately six links (1-1/4 inches) in from one end. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach one spike focal every third link along the bottom edge of the cupchain mesh.
STEP 6
Thread a needle onto one end of the FireLine. Beginning approximately 1 inch from one end of the cupchain mesh loosely stitch the top hole of one silver-coated 28x14mm double spike spacer to the cupchain mesh and suede cord. Continue to add double spike spacers every 1-1/2 inches along the top of the cupchain mesh and suede cord.
STEP 7
Pass one oval jumpring through the loop on one ribbon end and the last link on one end of the 4-inch length of silver-plated 18x8mm hammered marquise chain. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach the loop on one silver-plated hook-and-eye clasp to the opposite ribbon end.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using scissors cut two 2-3/4 inch sections of glass rhinestone and nylon cupchain mesh and two 13mm lengths of black suede lace cord.

Remove one cupchain link from each corner of one end of one section of cupchain mesh. Repeat on the second section of cupchain mesh.
STEP 2
Using a FiberFuse thread burner smooth the edges of each section of cupchain mesh.
STEP 3
Mix Devcon 5-Minute Epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions. Apply a small amount of epoxy along one edge of one side of the suede cord. Place the last row of links on one end of one section of cupchain mesh along the bottom front edge of the suede cord. Allow to dry for 5 minutes.
STEP 4
Insert the opposite side of the suede cord into one silver-plated 13x5mm ribbon crimp end. Apply a small amount of epoxy to the inside of the ribbon end. Using chain-nose pliers, compress the ribbon end over the suede cord close to the cupchain mesh.
STEP 5
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers open three silver-plated 8x6mm oval jumprings.

Pass one oval jumpring through the loop on one silver-coated 32x5mm spike focal and between the last two links on the opposite end of the cupchain mesh. Close the jumpring. Repeat to attach one spike focal between the last two links on either side of the previous spike focal.
STEP 6
Open the loop on one leverback earwire. Pass the loop through the loop on the ribbon end. Close the loop.
STEP 7
Repeat Steps 3 - 6 to create a second earring.
