Bib-Style Necklace and Earring Set with Tila® Beads

Necklace

STEP 1
Cut the following lengths:
  • One 4-foot length of royal blue Nymo® thread
  • Three 2-foot lengths of royal blue Nymo thread
  • Two 7-1/2 inch lengths of 8mm round chain

Note: It may be necessary to cut other lengths of thread later in the design.
STEP 2
Thread a beading needle with one 4-foot length of thread leaving a 6-inch tail.

Attach a Bead Stopper™ to the opposite end of the thread leaving a 6-inch tail.

Tip: The Bead Stopper is intended to secure the first few sets of beads. It can be removed once the pattern has been established.

Top Row

STEP 3
String one set of four Dyna-Mites™ iris bronze #11 seed beads and one hole from one Tila™ matte metallic dark bronze 5x5mm square seed bead.

Pass the thread through the second hole of the Tila bead in the opposite direction.

Continue to string on one Dyna-Mites iris bronze #11 seed bead. Pass the thread back through the first and second Dyna-Mites iris bronze #11 seed beads. Continue to string one Dyna-Mites iris bronze #11 seed bead.
STEP 4
Repeat the loop pattern in Step 3 to create a total of 26 sets.

First Column

STEP 5
Beginning from the last set in Step 3 continue to string the first hole in the following Tila beads stringing two Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads between each Tila bead:
  • One Tila matte metallic dark bronze 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso antique white 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso red 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila transparent sea foam 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila matte metallic dark bronze 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso cobalt 5x5mm square seed bead
STEP 6
Continue to string two Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads then pass the needle back through the second hole of the previous Tila beads.
STEP 7
Repeat Steps 5 and 6 to create a total of 26 columns.

Tip:
  • Keep the thread slightly loose as you string so that you can attach the second, third, and fourth rows of seed beads.
  • If desired, pass the thread back through the columns to reinforce the design.

26th Column

STEP 8
Pass the thread back through several sets of Tila and Dynamites seed beads in the opposite direction to conceal the tail of the thread and secure the seed beads in place. Trim excess thread.

Remove the Bead Stopper from the tail on the opposite end of the thread and repeat to secure.
STEP 9
Thread a beading needle with one 2-foot length of thread leaving a 6-inch tail.
STEP 10
Secure the beginning of the thread to the seed beaded section by passing the needle through several sets of Tila and seed beads.
STEP 11
Pass the needle through the first set of Tila and seed beads from third row leaving a 6-inch tail. String one Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed bead. Continue to pass the needle through the next 25 sets of Tila and seed beads in the row stringing one to two more seed beads between each row to form the beginning of a fan.

Repeat Step 8 to secure the thread.
STEP 12
Repeat Steps 9 – 11 using the fourth row of Tila and seed beads to enlarge the fan shape.

Bottom Row

STEP 13
Repeat Steps 9 and 10 to begin the bottom row.

Pass the needle through the first set of Tila and seed beads from bottom row leaving a 6-inch tail. String approximately three Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads. Continue to pass the needle through the next 25 sets of Tila and seed beads in the row stringing approximately three more Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads between each row finishing the fan shape.

Repeat Step 8 to secure the thread.
STEP 14
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the first loop in one corner on the top row and the first link on one length of 8mm round chain then close. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.
STEP 15
Pass one 4mm jumpring through the last loop on the length of chain and the jumpring on the lobster claw clasp then close.
STEP 16
Repeat Steps 14 – 15 to attach the second length of chain and the ring from the clasp.

Earrings

STEP 1
Cut four 2-foot lengths of royal blue Nymo thread.
STEP 2
Thread a beading needle with one 2-foot length of thread leaving a 6-inch tail.

Attach a Bead Stopper™ to the other end of the thread leaving a 6-inch tail.
STEP 3
String one crimp end (loop end first) and one Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed bead.

Continue to string the first hole in the following Tila beads and two Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads between each Tila bead:
  • One Tila matte metallic dark bronze 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso antique white 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso red 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila transparent sea foam 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila matte metallic dark bronze 5x5mm square seed bead
  • One Tila opaque Picasso cobalt 5x5mm square seed bead
STEP 4
Continue to string five Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads. Pass the thread back through the second strung Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed beads creating a loop.
STEP 5
Repeat Step 3 in the opposite direction using the second hole of the Tila square beads.

String one Dynamites iris bronze #11 seed bead.

Pass the needle back through the crimp end.
STEP 6
Remove Bead Stopper. Pull the thread so that the beads are snug, then crimp.
STEP 7
Repeat steps 2 – 6 to create a total of four Tila bead drops.
STEP 8
Pass one 5mm jumpring through the loop on one crimp end and then to one loop on the two loop side of one 16x7mm end bar, then close. Repeat to attach a second Tila drop to the second loop on the same side.
STEP 9
Pass a 5mm round jumpring through the loops on both crimp ends connecting them, then close.
STEP 10
Attach the loop on one leverback earwire to the single loop on the opposite side of the end bar.
STEP 11
Repeat Steps 8 - 10 to create second earring.
