Bib-Style Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski Crystal, Apoxie® Sculpt and Gold-Finished Brass Chain

Necklace

STEP 1
Thoroughly combine equal portions of each part of the Apoxie Sculpt for two minutes, or until thoroughly combined.
STEP 2
Separate a piece of Apoxie and work it into a 55x50mm flat oval-shaped disc approximately 3mm thick. Smooth the front of the Apoxie using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet.
STEP 3
Press the following fancy stones into the Apoxie so the girdle of the stones is level with the Apoxie:
  • One Swarovski crystal white patina 30x22mm oval fancy stone into the center of the Apoxie disc
  • One Swarovski light amethyst 18x13mm rectangle fancy stone on either side of the oval
  • Four Swarovski crystal black patina 14x10mm pear fancy stones along the bottom edge of the oval
  • One Swarovski amethyst 14x10mm pear fancy stone center above the oval
  • One Swarovski crystal white patina 14x10mm pear fancy stone on either side of the amethyst pear fancy stone
  • One Swarovski crystal amethyst 8x6mm pear fancy stone one next to the previous pear fancy stone, just above the rectangle fancy stones
Note: Pointed end of all of the pear fancy stones should face in towards the center oval.
STEP 4
Using a beading awl create a small slit (approximately 5mm) in the edge of the clay between the amethyst pear fancy stone and the crystal patina black pear fancy stone. Using chain-nose pliers press one gold-plated 5mm jumpring halfway into the slit then press Apoxie over the inserted half of the jumpring creating a bail.

Repeat to create a bail on the side of the component, just above the light amethyst rectangle fancy stone and another bail just below the rectangle fancy stone.

Repeat to create bails on the opposite side of the Apoxie and Swarovski oval focal component.

Use a clay-carving tool to smooth the clay around the edges of the fancy stones and remove excess. Smooth the back of the Apoxie using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet and set aside.
STEP 5
Separate a piece of Apoxie and work it into two 48x30mm half-oval shapes approximately 3mm thick. Smooth the front of the Apoxie using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet.
STEP 6
Press one Swarovski crystal black patina 30x20mm pear fancy stone into the flat side of the Apoxie half-oval disc, along the edge then press one Swarovski crystal white patina 14x10mm pear fancy stone centered below the pear, curved end facing the curved end of the previous pear fancy stone.

Move up from the 14x10mm pear fancy stone and place the following stones along the edge of the 30x20mm pear fancy stone, pointed end facing in towards the edge of the 30x20mm pear fancy stone.

Repeat this sequence to create a total of three sets:
  • One Swarovski crystal golden shadow 8x6mm pear fancy stone
  • One Swarovski amethyst 8x6mm pear fancy stone
  • One Swarovski crystal golden shadow 8x6mm pear fancy stone
STEP 7
Using a beading awl create a small slit (approximately 5mm) in the edge of the clay approximately 5mm from the point of the 30x20mm pear fancy stone. Press one 5mm jumpring halfway into the slit then press Apoxie over the inserted half of the jumpring creating a bail.

Repeat to create a bail on the side of the component, approximately 20mm from the previous bail.

Repeat to attach bails on the opposite side of the Apoxie and Swarovski oval component.

Use a clay-carving tool to press the clay around the edges of the fancy stones and remove excess. Smooth the back of the Apoxie using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet and set aside.
STEP 8
Separate a piece of Apoxie and roll it into a ball. Press one Swarovski crystal gold patina 18x13mm pear fancy stone into the Apoxie.

Using a beading awl create a small slit (approximately 5mm) in the edge of the clay on either side of the point of the fancy stone. Using chain-nose pliers press one 5mm jumpring halfway into the slit then press Apoxie over the inserted half of the jumpring creating a bail. Repeat to attach a bail to the bottom center of the component creating a Swarovski crystal gold patina 18x13mm pear fancy stone link.

Use a clay-carving tool to press the clay around the edges of the fancy stones and remove excess. Smooth the back of the Apoxie using your finger or a piece of non-stick worksheet and set aside.

Repeat to create a second Swarovski crystal gold patina 18x13mm pear fancy stone link.
STEP 9
Separate a piece of Apoxie and roll it into a ball. Press one Swarovski crystal black patina 12x12mm cushion fancy stone into the Apoxie.

Using a beading awl create a small slit (approximately 5mm) in the edge of the clay. Using chain-nose pliers press one gold-plated 5mm jumpring halfway into the slit then press Apoxie over the inserted half of the jumpring creating a bail.

Press one gold-plated 14mm flat pad earstud onto the back of the Apoxie creating a Swarovski crystal black patina 12x12mm cushion earring component.

Use a clay-carving tool to smooth the clay around the edges of the fancy stone and earstud and remove excess Apoxie.

Repeat to create a second Swarovski crystal black patina 12x12mm cushion earring component.
STEP 10
Allow 24 hours for complete hardening.

After Apoxie is dry, use acetone and a paper towel to remove any Apoxie on the Swarovski fancy stones.

Use a sanding swab in the crevices between the stones to smooth Apoxie.
STEP 11
Using flush-cutters cut the following:
  • Ten 3-1/2 inch lengths of Wrapit® Jeweler’s Bronze 22-gauge wire
  • Gold-finished 4mm round cable chain:
    • Six 2-1/4 inch lengths
    • Seven 3-1/2 inch lengths
  • Gold-finished 3mm Figaro chain:
    • Four 2-1/4 inch lengths
    • Five 3-inch lengths
  • Gold-finished 3x2.5mm cable chain:
    • Thirteen 2-1/4 inch lengths
    • Seven 2-3/4 inch lengths
    • Four 3-inch lengths
    • Two 2-inch lengths
    • Two 1-inch lengths
STEP 12
String one Swarovski jonquil 4mm bicone onto one gold-plated 1-inch headpin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a jonquil drop.

Repeat to create a total of seventeen jonquil drops.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Twenty-two Swarovski peridot 4mm bicone drops
  • Thirty Swarovski amethyst 4mm bicones
  • Forty-five Swarovski crystal golden shadow 4mm round drops
STEP 13
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a wrapped loop on one end of one 3-1/2 inch length wire.

String one Swarovski crystal golden shadow 6mm round onto the straight end of the wire. Form a wrapped loop on the opposite end of the wire creating a crystal golden shadow 6mm round link.
STEP 14
Repeat Step 12 using one Swarovski amethyst 4mm bicone, one Swarovski crystal golden shadow 8mm round and one Swarovski amethyst 4mm bicone creating a crystal golden shadow 8mm round link. Repeat to create a total of four crystal golden shadow 8mm round and amethyst links.
STEP 15
String the following onto one gold-plated 1-1/2 inch eyepin:
  • One Swarovski amethyst 4mm bicone
  • One Swarovski crystal golden shadow 10mm round
  • One Swarovski amethyst 4mm bicone
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a crystal golden shadow 10mm round link.

Repeat to create a total of four crystal golden shadow 10mm round links.

Repeat to create two crystal golden shadow 6mm bicone links.
STEP 16
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers open ninety-four gold-plated 4mm jumprings.
STEP 17
Connect the following components end to end using 4mm jumprings:
  • The loop on the bar portion of a gold-plated 24x22.5mm fancy flower toggle clasp
  • Three crystal golden shadow 6mm round links
  • Two crystal golden shadow 8mm round links
  • The single bail end of one Swarovski crystal gold patina 18x13mm pear fancy stone link
STEP 18
Continue to connect the loop on one end of one crystal golden shadow 10mm round link and the bottom right bail on the opposite side of the 18x13mm pear fancy stone link. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.

Connect the first link on one end of one 2-inch length of 3x2.5mm cable chain and the bottom left bail on the 18x13mm pear fancy stone link.
STEP 19
Connect the top left loop of one Swarovski and Apoxie half-oval component (by the small pear fancy stones) and the loop on the opposite end of the crystal golden shadow 10mm round link. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.

Connect the bottom left bail of the Swarovski and Apoxie half-oval component and the last link on the opposite end of the 2-inch length of gold-finished 3x2.5mm cable chain.
STEP 20
Connect the first link on one end of one 1-inch length of 3x2.5mm cable chain and the top right bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie half-oval component.

Repeat to connect the loop on one end of one crystal golden shadow 6mm bicone link. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.

Connect the loop on one end of one crystal golden shadow 10mm round link to the bottom right bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie half-oval component. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.
STEP 21
Connect the link on the opposite end of the 1-inch length of 3x2.5mm cable chain and the top left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component.

Connect the loop on the opposite end of the crystal golden shadow 6mm bicone link to the middle left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component. Repeat to attach a second jumpring creating double jumprings.

Connect the loop on the opposite end of the crystal golden shadow 10mm round link to the bottom left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component.
STEP 22
Connect the first link on one 3-inch length of 3x2.5mm cable chain to the bottom left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie half-oval component. Repeat to attach the opposite end of the cable chain to the bottom left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component.
STEP 23
Connect the first link on one 3-inch length of 3x2.5mm cable chain to the bottom left bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component. Repeat to attach the opposite end of the cable chain to the bottom right bail on the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component.
STEP 24
Repeat Steps 17 – 23 to create the second half of the necklace creating a mirror image.
STEP 25
Using 4mm jumprings randomly attach the first link on one 2-1/4 inch length of chain to each link on the 3x2.5mm cable chain from Step 22, beginning approximately 14 links from the first link and moving towards the last link.

Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Tip: Place the necklace on a display to make is easier to attach the lengths of chain.
STEP 26
Attach the remaining lengths of chain to the center 3x2.5mm cable chain below the Swarovski and Apoxie oval focal component graduating the lengths so the longest are towards the center.
STEP 27
Using a pair of chain-nose and bent-nose pliers randomly attach one 4mm bicone drop to the last link on each length of chain. (If desired leave some lengths of chain with no drops on the end.)

Continue to attach bicone drops to random links on the lengths of chain in a random pattern concentrating in the center of the necklace and moving up the lengths of chain towards the focal and out towards the shorter lengths of chain.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters cut two 3-1/2 inch lengths of Wrapit wire.
STEP 2
Create a briolette wrapped loop on two Swarovski crystal golden shadow 15x14mm briolettes.
STEP 3
String one Swarovski amethyst 6mm bicone onto one gold-plated 1-1/2 inch eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a 6mm bicone link.
STEP 4
Using a pair of chain-nose and bent-nose plies open the loop on end of the 6mm bicone link. Pass the loop through the loop on the briolette wrapped loop. Close the loop.

Open the loop on the opposite end of the 6mm bicone link. Pass the loop through the bail on one Swarovski crystal black patina 12x12mm cushion earring component, from Step 9 of the necklace instructions. Close the loop.
STEP 5
Repeat Steps 2 - 4 to create a second earring.
