Double-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski Crystal, Apoxie® Sculpt and Silver-Plated Brass Chain

Necklace

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters, cut the following lengths of chain:
  • One 4-inch length of silver-finished clear 4mm rhinestone cupchain
  • Two 4-inch lengths and eight 8-inch lengths of silver-finished clear 2mm rhinestone cupchain
  • Four 3/4 inch lengths, four 7/8 inch lengths and eight 1-inch lengths of silver-plated 3mm cable chain
  • Six 1/4 inch lengths of silver-finished French wire
STEP 2
Open the black Apoxie Sculpt, 2-part epoxy molding compound. Mix equal parts of the epoxy for two minutes, or until thoroughly combined, to create a putty-like texture.
STEP 3
Shape a quarter-size amount of the Apoxie Sculpt into a 1-1/4x1-inch oval disc approximately 1/4 inch thick as the base of the first focal piece. Press one Swarovski amethyst 30x22mm oval fancy stone into the Apoxie Sculpt disc. Work a small amount of Apoxie Sculpt over the entire foil-covered portion of one Swarovski fancy stone. Position one 4-inch silver-finished clear 2mm cupchain around the top edge of the Apoxie Sculpt around the center stone. Use flush-cutters to cut any excess chain from the cupchain. Repeat to attach a second silver-finished clear 2mm cupchain under the first cupchain and one 4-inch silver-finished 4mm clear cupchain under the second 2mm cupchain.

Smooth the Apoxie Sculpt on the back of the focal piece using your finger. Press a silver-plated 16x9mm heart bail into the Apoxie Sculpt at the top of the stone. Using a small paintbrush, brush a small amount of black Gilders Paste® across the exposed areas of Apoxie Sculpt on back of the focal piece.

Allow 24 hours for complete hardening.
STEP 4
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to create two Swarovski light amethyst 14x10mm rectangle fancy stone focal pieces and two Swarovski crystal AB 14x10mm rectangle fancy stone focal pieces. Start with a 3/4 to 5/8 inch rectangle disc approximately 1/4 inch thick for the base with one Swarovski 14x10mm rectangle fancy stone, two rows of 3-inch length clear rhinestone cupchain and one silver-plated 13.5x10mm heart bail into the back of the Apoxie Sculpt.
STEP 5
String one Swarovski crystal AB 6mm bicone bead, the bail on the Swarovski amethyst 30x22mm oval fancy stone focal piece and one Swarovski crystal AB 6mm bicone bead onto an eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating an amethyst 30x22mm oval beading link.

Repeat to create four Swarovski crystal AB 14x10mm rectangle bead links using two Swarovski crystal AB 4mm bicone beads, one focal piece and one eyepin.

Repeat to create two Swarovski crystal AB 4mm bicone bead links using one Swarovski crystal AB 4mm bicone bead and one eyepin.

Using flush-cutters, cut a 10-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. String onto the wire one crimp tube, silver-finished French wire and the jumpring attached to the bar portion of the toggle clasp. Pass the wire back through the crimp tube, leaving one end of the wire approximately 1-inch long. Pull the crimp tight against the French wire. Place a small amount of adhesive (Loctite®) inside the crimp (optional).
