Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Preciosa Pip™ Czech Glass Beads, Premo! Sculpey™ Polymer Clay and Seed Beads

Necklace

Polymer Clay Beads

STEP 1
Condition colors of scrap polymer clay well by hand kneading or running through a polymer clay roller until soft and pliable. (Used here: Premo! Sculpey™ in cadmium yellow, translucent, black, white, purple pearl, magenta pearl, metallic colors and/or pearl.)

Stack the sheets of clay on top of each other and then flatten the stack of clay using the polymer clay roller one time.
STEP 2
Rip the clay sheet stacking the sections then flattening to create new layers. Flatten the entire piece of clay into a rough rectangle shape. Beginning at one end, roll the clay rectangle tightly then twist as if ringing a cloth.

Use the Super Slicer to slice the twisted scroll in half, lengthwise then stack the sliced halves back to back and press together.
STEP 3
Cut seven pieces from the clay then roll each piece into an approximately 10mm round. Slide a piercing pin through the center of each 10mm round creating beads.

Place the beads on the baking rack and into the pre-heated clay craft oven; bake according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Note: Two of the clay beads created will be used for the earrings.

Tubular Peyote Stitch

STEP 1
Cut one 36-inch length of FireLine® thread. Thread a #10 beading needle almost doubling the thread (to make it easier to work with) but leaving a tail so you are working with only one thread.
STEP 2
String four Delica® black #8 seed beads, two Pip™ Czech green vitrail 7x5mm beads and four black #8 seed beads then begin tubular peyote stitch.
STEP 3
Continue the next row by stitching three black #8 seed beads, the last one directly above the pip bead from the first row. String one green vitrail 7x5mm pip, adding it next to the pip from the previous row then finish the row using black #8 seed beads.

Continue to stitch eight more rows, adding one green vitrail 7x5mm pip bead to the next one form the previous row, causing the pip beads to spiral around the tubular peyote stitch.
STEP 4
Continue to stitch eleven more rows using rose copper 7x5mm pip beads then another eleven rows using marbled purple pip beads.

Note: The thread may run low and it may be necessary to secure this length of thread and start with a fresh length during this process.
STEP 5
Once the last row is complete pass the thread back through beads in the tubular peyote stitch several times to secure then trim excess thread.
