Meet the Designer-Artist
Describe your artistic style.
Creative, manual work has always been an important part of my life. As a small girl, my grandmother, my mother who was a dressmaker and my father who constructed naval models, have transmitted in me the love of everything created from the heart and realized with the hands. I started modestly with embroidery, making candles, scrap booking and decoupage. 12 years ago when I first started browsing the internet, I came across and was so impressed by the works of Diane Fitzegerald and Sherry Serafini. At that time, beads and beadings were only something for children and not something done by adults.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
I began looking for materials to use and was consciously aware of the difficulties entailed. I decided that it was a good road to take; to make the passion of creating beautiful things with my hands not only a hobby, but my work. The first years were dedicated to learning all the technicalities, to know and master everything about the materials and to finally find my own way.
What materials do you most enjoy working with?
I have always included part of my roots and the taste of Italy in everything I create, always using the best materials I can find. Silver and Swarovski are always my favorites but I always strive to find new materials and new ways to explore. During the last few months I discovered the joy and satisfactions of creating with micro-macramé. I hope to transmit at least a bit of the serenity creating with one's hands has given me. And if my beaded jewelry can help a woman feel even more special, then my work will have attained the best result.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
What inspired this design?
The idea came from the necessity to bring out the savage part still inside of me and surely existing in everybody. On one side of me and my creation, I bring out the delicate and sensual side of a woman. On the other side I am travelling in Italy and in other parts of Europe driving a motorcycle! How do I combine these two sides of me which seem to be distant apart? In the same way, one can create aggressive jewelry using the most sensual component which for me is crystal. Claws, is the jewelry best represents me. It represents something which one's will to show one's personality, without compromising one's femininity.
