Triple Heart Gemstone Necklace
Meet the Designer-Artist

Where do you live?
The beautiful Catskill Mountains in New York.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
My jewelry line, Violet and Blue, is inspired by my love of nature and music. I named my business after a song by my idol, Stevie Nicks.

What medium do you work with mostly?
I love working with natural gemstones and Swarovski crystals.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Triple Heart Gemstone Necklace

What inspired this design?
This necklace was inspired by my mom and her love of jewelry making. I used three natural gemstone heart beads from her personal collection of supplies to make this piece.

How did it come together?
Like most of my pieces, this one defined itself once I began working. I knew the gemstone hearts would be the focal point and I just started filling in the missing pieces that would eventually turn into this necklace.

Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
As a child, I used to make jewelry with my mom. She would take me to gem and mineral shows to get all of our supplies and I became really interested in natural, raw gemstones. When I got older, I stopped making jewelry for a long time. Then in 2007, two years after my mom passed away, I found her old trunk of jewelry supplies and remembered how much fun it was to make jewelry. I made a necklace that night and haven't stopped since.

Where and How do you sell your jewelry?
I sell my original designs online on Etsy (www.violetandblue.etsy.com) and at select artisan fairs. I also do private home shows and host my own jewelry parties at local restaurants.
