Ask the Experts Rosary Eye Pins Q&A

I am making a rosary and am looking for the thickest and strongest eye pin. I have had trouble with the loops stretching open under normal stress. Any suggestions?

The 21-gauge (0.028 inch) eye pins are a solid and dependable finding, great for most projects requiring a heavier weight eye pin. This gauge is available in sterling silver, gold and silver plate, stainless steel and niobium. If your design requires wire heavier than 21-gauge, you may consider creating your own eye pins by cutting lengths of half-hard 20-gauge, half-hard 19-gauge or half-hard 18-gauge wire and forming a simple loop or wrapped loop on each end accordingly.
