I would like to string some heavy gemstone beads on elastic. What's the best material to use and how do I finish it? If I tie it, how do I hide the knot? Thanks.

Powercord® is an elastic cord that returns to its original shape after stretching. It works well with gemstone beads, crystal and glass beads. It is always recommended to use the largest diameter cord that will fit through the holes in the beads.
A surgeon's knot is recommended for finishing elastic cord. This knot is secure and will not slip after it is tightened. It is recommended to use E-6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive on the knot to add extra security. Place the knot next to a bead with a large hole, then after the knot has been made, and before the glue is dry, tuck the knot into the bead hole. Another option for hiding the knot would be to place a crimp cover over the knot.
