What is the difference in using Fimo and Kato?

Kato Polyclay™ and Fimo® have had reformulations recently, making them each easier to condition. They each perform very well in caning applications as well as sculptural designs--it has been noted that Fimo is a bit softer than Kato which becomes evident when slicing a reduced cane.

The curing is where they remain very different. Fimo cures at a recommended temperature of 230 degrees Fahrenheit and Kato Polyclay is recommended to be cured at 300 degrees. It has been noted that Fimo colors darken in curing; Kato Polyclay colors shift minimally. Each is very strong after curing.
