I want to add some links to a chain with wire, what gauge should I use?

We suggest using a wire gauge that echoes the gauge of your chain. Use half hard or full hard wire for this purpose and be sure to work harden each link a bit before attaching it using a steel block and either a rawhide, wood or nylon mallet. If you are working with sterling silver or copper, soldering the links closed is a good idea. Solder paste is a great, easy choice for this purpose.
