I have 3 cookie tins of screwback earrings from my mother’s jewelry collection. There are so many beautiful ones, but I don’t know how to change from screw or clip to pierced.
If you have elements that dangle from a screwback earring, the simplest way to convert them is to buy matching hooks (or posts with loops if you prefer) and remove the dangles from the screw backs. Use two pairs of chain nose pliers, re-attaching them to your new earring findings with a jump ring (if necessary). If the earrings are attached directly to the screwback, you may be able to have a jeweler remove and re-solder them to posts or hooks, provided they are precious metal. If the earrings are plated or finished, you can attach them to earring findings with a flat pad slightly smaller than the earring. We recommend Devcon® 2-part epoxy, E-6000® Jewelry and Bead™ glue or Loctite® instant glue for the strongest hold.
