What are the advantages in a crimp with a heavier wall? Or disadvantages? I have been using a number 3 in sterling on the heavier necklaces I make and wonder if heavier wall would be stronger?  Thank you.

Heavier walled crimps would have a bit more strength, though at Fire Mountain Gems and Beads we routinely use standard walled 2x2mm crimp tubes that perform very well. We recommend using sterling silver as they are much more malleable and less likely to crack.
