How do you use a draw plate? Looking for a tool to keep wires in place when wrapping.

We are not familiar with the use of a draw plate in securing wire during wrapping. Generally, wires not currently being worked are left free while wrapping others.

A draw plate is meant to draw wire down in smaller sizes, or other shapes. You use a draw plate by setting the plate securely in a vise, adding lubricant and pulling the wire through successively smaller holes with draw tongs, until you achieve the size and shape desired. It may require annealing depending upon how much smaller you are drawing it down to.
