Secrets to French Wire

French wire, also known as bullion, is a fine coiled wire used to protect beading thread or silk from wear and tear where it connects to clasps or findings. It adds a polished, professional finish while preventing fraying at stress points.

Instructions

Step 1

Pass needle and thread through a bead.

Step 2
Needle and thread going through French wire

Pass a needle and thread through 1/2 inch of French wire or bullion.

Step 3
Bead with French wire on one side and a needle passing through the other side

Pass the needle and thread back through the bead pulling tight until French wire forms a uniform loop.

Step 4

Secure tail thread and working thread using two overhand knots.

Step 5

Add a drop of G-S Hypo Cement® to the knot and allow to dry.

Step 6

Cover knot with the next bead of design or a crimp cover.
