How to Use the Wire Curling Mandrel

Wire curling mandrels give you the opportunity to easily hand make your own consistently sized jump rings and wire coils from soft metals.

Instructions

Step 1
Wire inserted into tool shaft

Insert cut end of wire into slot on tool shaft

Step 2
Wire wrapped around shaft

Hold wire end in non-dominant hand, with dominant hand, manually turn tool handle to create desired amount of wire loops

Step 3
Coiled wire removed from shaft

Slide wire loop off tool shaft

Step 4
Flush-cutters cutting the coiled wire

Using flush-cutters, cut the wire loops to create jumprings

Step 5
Pliers closing a jump ring

Using chain-nose pliers, work the jumpring into a secure closed position
