How to Use the Artistic Wire® CONETASTIC™ Mandrels


Instructions for the Inverted Mandrel

Step 1
Putting the mandrel on the Conetastic tool

Insert the inverted mandrel into the base of the CONETASTIC Tool (sold separately) with flat side of the mandrel shank aligned with the set screw.

Step 2
Tightening the mandrel with an Allen wrench

Use an Allen wrench to tighten the inverted mandrel into place.

Step 3
Inserting wire through the hole in the mandrel

Insert wire into the hole at the base of the mandrel to secure the wire for wrapping.

Step 4
Started wrapping the wire up the mandrel

Holding and guiding the wire with your fingers, turn the CONETASTIC tool to wrap the wire around the mandrel.

Step 5
Continuing of the wrapping

Continue turning the tool to wrap the wire around the mandrel.

Step 6
What it looks like when the wire has wrapped up the entire mandrel

Finish wrapping when you reach the desired length of your cone.

Step 7
Cutting off the excess wire with cutters

Use the flush side of a cutter to snip the end of the wire.

Step 8
Cutting the wire at the base

Use the flush side of a cutter to snip the wire at the bottom to release it from the hole.

Step 9
Using an Allen wrench to loosen the mandrel

Use the allen wrench to loosen the mandrel and remove it from the CONETASTIC tool.

Step 10
Taking the finished product off the mandrel

Remove the cone from the mandrel.



Instructions for the Hourglass Mandrel

Step 1
Both sides of the mandrel

Screw both sides of the hourglass mandrel together.

Step 2
Both sides of the mandrel now connected

The mandrel should have the narrow parts together with the wide parts on the sides.

Step 3
Inserting the hourglass mandrel into the Conetastic tool

Insert the hourglass mandrel into the CONETASTIC tool (sold separately) with the flat side of the mandrel shank aligned with the set screw.

Step 4
Allen wrench tightening mandrel into place

Use an Allen wrench to tighten the hourglass mandrel into place.

Step 5
Putting wire through the hole in the mandrel

Insert wire into the hole at the base of the mandrel to secure the wire for wrapping.

Step 6
Wrapping the wire around the mandrel

Turn the CONETASTIC tool to wrap the wire around the bottom portion of the mandrel.

Step 7
Continuing wrapping the wire around the mandrel

Continue turning the tool to wrap the wire around the hourglass mandrel to its narrow midpoint and up towards its widest point at the other end.

Step 8
Continuing wrapping the wire around the mandrel to the other side

Finish wrapping when you reach the desired size for your hourglass shaped double cone.

Step 9
Cutting off the excess wire with cutters

Use the flush side of a cutter to snip the wire.

Step 10
Cutting the bottom of the wire to release it from the mandrel

Use the flush side of a cutter to snip the wire at the bottom to release it from the hole.

Step 11
Unscrewing the mandrel

Unscrew the double mandrel to release the cone at one end.

Step 12
Lifting the first half of the mandrel from the wire

Lift the double cone away from the mandrel to remove the hourglass shaped double cone.

Step 13
Finished product

Finished double-cone accessory.
