Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
I live in Asheville, North Carolina.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Growth and feeling independent. I learn about who I am for myself, my children and others around me. I am creating my life with passion and being an example for my children, as I love what I do.
What medium do you work with mostly?
I mostly work with polymer clay.
Why did you become enchanted with this style of jewelry-making?
I have always loved working with my hands. As a teenager it calmed me to work with clay, when I was under stress. It evolved into my own form of meditation. I love how unique each piece can be and how there is always something new to learn.
Where and how do you sell your jewelry?
I sell my artwork at markets and have my earrings in six stores in Asheville, North Carolina.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
How did it come together?
The snake earrings came naturally. I could literally make them all day every day and never get tired of making them. I have had 30 rescue snakes that I was privileged to know and take care of on my uncle's farm growing up. I learned how amazing and mysterious they are and that they have wonderful personalities. I have a lot of respect for them, as they are amazing creatures!
