Instructions

Step 1
Step 1 shows orange nylon thread.

Prepare about 9 feet of nylon thread. If the thread is too twisty, run its entire length between your nails. Thread the center of the thread under the intersection of the spokes on an 8-spoke wire snowflake ornament frame. Tie the thread above the intersection with three knots.

Step 2
Metal ornament frame showing thread-wrapping pattern for Step 2

Cover and simultaneously reinforce the center of the star as follows: Start twisting one part of the thread around the intersection of the wires. Twist around the internal area of the opposite sector 2 times. Move to the adjacent opposite internal area of the sector and twist the line around it 2 times. Fill all eight sectors in this way. Repeat the process using the second part of the thread. Then tie off both threads using three knots.

Step 3
Step 3 bead stringing example

String 4cm of seed beads onto a wire spoke as follows: Start with one #10 seed bead and then add 19 #8 seed beads. Snip the wire down to 8-10mm. Grasp the end of the wire between the points of round-nose pliers and make a loop. Hold the seed beads on the wire using your other hand. The seed beads should be able to move slightly. Twist the thread into the gaps between the seed beads.

Repeat for the other spokes of the ornament frame.

Step 4
Ornament frame with orange seed beads on all eight prongs

String one line of the thread into the eye of a thin needle. Tie a simple knot next to the eye. This will prevent the thread from frequently slipping out of the eye. Occasionally tighten the knot. Sometimes allow the needle and thread to hang freely to prevent it from twisting excessively. The spiral turns anti-clockwise. String three #10 seed beads onto the thread. Twist the thread two times between the first and second #8 seed beads on the nearest, preferably the lower, spoke. String on three #10 seed beads. Twist the thread two times between the second and third #8 seed beads on the next spoke in order. String on four #10 seed beads. Twist the thread two times between the third and fourth #8 seed beads on the next spoke. Then string on four more #10 seed beads. Twist the line between the fourth and fifth #8 seed beads at the next spoke.

Step 5
Stringing orange seed beads onto a needle

Pour out a quantity of #10 seed beads into a pile. Run the needle into the pile. The seed beads will string themselves onto the needle. Occasionally mix the pile up. Prepare several centimeters of #10 seed beads on the thread in this manner. Count the gaps between the #8 seed beads on the individual spokes. Also twist the thread two times into the gaps on the wires. Adapt the ideal number of #10 seed beads to the distance between the spokes at the height of the gap between the #8 seed beads. The illustration includes the recommended numbers of #10 seed beads.

Step 6
Orange seeded beaded thread is strung in a spiral onto the ornament frame.

Continue to twist the thread two times into the gaps between the #8 seed beads on the spokes. The gaps between the #8 seed beads should be smaller as you go toward the edges of the ornament frame. On the other hand, the strung #10 seed beads on the thread between the spokes will be longer.

Step 7

Pass the second part of the thread through the created spiral. Thread the needle through the individual "windows" between the spokes and the "filaments" on the spider's web. Only twist the thread around the wire in the gaps between the #8 seed beads once. Once the thread has passed through the entire spiral, tie off both ends using three knots. Pull the ends of the thread back into the #10 seed beads.

Step 8
Ear wire attaches to one prong of the ornament frame.

Attach the spider's web to a fishhook ear wire using a 4mm jump ring.

Step 9

Repeat Steps 1 – 8 for the second earring.
