Instructions
Cut one 30-inch length each of aquamarine and sea foam Hemptique® polished hemp 1mm diameter 20-pound test cord.
Cut one 14-inch length of 0.5-0.8mm turquoise blue dyed leather round cord.
Fold the two hemp cords in half. Align the leather cord along the length of the hemp cords.
Pinch the three cords together at the end that has the folded centers of the hemp cords. Make an overhand loop knot to join them. Add a drop of E6000® Fray Lock™ adhesive inside the knot before tightening, leaving a loop that just fits over a TierraCast® 17.5mm antique copper-plated mandala button.
Trim the end of the leather cord close to the knot.
Attach a clamp to your table or workbench. You can use any clamp, or choose the clamp portion of a bench pin, without the wood portion. Use a piece of scrap cord or string to loosely tie the loop from your overhand loop knot to the clamp. This will give you a stable point to work from.
Thread on to the leather cord:
Apply a Bead Stopper™ to hold the beads in place.
Tip: For more detailed instructions, watch the video or read the instructions “How to Use Bead Stoppers.”
How to Cage a Bead onto Cord
Pick up one of the strands of seafoam cord. Determine the spot on the cord where a bead would be centered in line with the paua shell bead on the leather cord. Cage in an 8x6mm antique copper-plated fancy barrel bead.
Pick up the second strand of seafoam cord. Find a spot half an inch from the paua shell bead, and cage in an antique copper-plated fancy barrel bead. Then find the spot half an inch past the paua shell bead and cage in a second copper barrel bead.
Pick up one of the strands of aquamarine cord. Determine the spot on the cord where a bead would be centered in line with the paua shell bead on the leather cord. Cage in three 7x2mm antique copper-plated corrugated rondelle beads.
Pick up the second strand of aquamarine cord. Find a spot half an inch from the paua shell bead, and cage in three 7x2mm antique copper-plated corrugated rondelle beads. Then find the spot half an inch past the paua shell bead and cage in three 7x2mm antique copper-plated corrugated rondelle beads.
Lay all the strung cords straight together.
Remove the bead stopper from the leather cord. With all five strands, make an overhand knot against the beaded length of the leather cord, making sure all cords are an even length. Add a drop of E6000 Fray Lock adhesive inside the knot before you tighten it.
Trim the tails evenly to about an inch.
Cut the scrap cord holding the bracelet to the clamp and discard it or save it for another project.
Thread a needle with royal blue Nymo® size B thread and weave it back and forth through the end knot, going through the loop on a TierraCast® 17.5mm antique copper-plated mandala button with each revolution. Take care to keep visible stitches on the opposite side of the button very small. Tie off the thread and cut off the tail.
