Instructions
Cut a 12-inch length of wire.
Use a rectangular template to trace a rectangle onto the copper sheet with a permanent marker. Wax the steel blade then cut out the rectangle from the copper sheet.
Place the rectangular copper sheet onto a fire block then heat with a butane-filled torch. Heat until the copper sheet is fully annealed. Annealing will make the sheet more malleable.
Hammer with the ball end of the chasing hammer to texture the copper sheet. File the edges to smooth.
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to better texture the copper sheet. Use steel wool to make the copper sheet shiny.
File the corners of the copper sheet and sand the edges.
Punch holes approximately 4mm from the end of the copper sheet while also keeping close to the center of either side.
Sand smooth leaving some relief in depressions of the textures.
Make a 90-degree bend six inches from the end of one length of wire. Thread the wire through one hole in the copper sheet.
String the following sequence onto the wire:
Make a 60-degree bend then thread the wire through the opposite hole.
Wrap the short end of the length of wire twice around the copper sheet and leave a tail. Wrap the long tail twice around the copper sheet.
Continue to wrap the wire twice around the copper sheet 1/3 of the way from the end. Repeat.
Bring both ends of the wire towards the underside of the copper sheet then wrap both tails into the previous wrapped wires to finish.
String one open loop on the bracelet component onto one hole on the rectangular copper sheet.
Repeat to the opposite hole using the remaining open loop on the bracelet component.
Use one 5mm jump ring to attach the charm onto the beaded portion of the wire.
