Instructions

Necklace Instructions

Creating the Bezel

Step 1

Cut a 3-foot length of Nymo® and thread a beading needle.

Step 2

Pick up enough matte orange #11 seed beads to go around the circumference of the base of a 40x30mm "turquoise" cabochon.

Tie a knot using the working thread and tail, then pull tight to create a circle. These beads will be the first two rows.

Step 3

Using the peyote stitch technique, add the following rows. Decrease with each row, creating a bezel-effect that will hold the front of the cabochon.

  • Two rows of dark chocolate #11 seed beads
  • Two rows of orange #15 seed beads
  • Three rows of luster light pink #15 seed beads

Note: View the ''How to make a Tubular Peyote Stitch'' how-to video and illustrated instructions for additional details.

Step 4

Pass through the beadwork until the needle exits the first row.

Step 5

Repeat Step 3 to add the following rows to secure the back of the cabochon:

  • One row of dark chocolate #11 seed beads
  • Three to four rows of luster light pink #15 seed beads
Step 6

Pass through adjacent seed beads to secure the thread then trim. If desired add a knot for additional security, then trim excess thread.

Creating the Bail

Step 7

Cut a 3-foot length of Nymo and thread a beading needle. Pass through adjacent seed beads of the bezel, exiting from the first orange row five beads left of center.

If desired, add a knot prior to weaving through adjacent seed beads for additional security.

Step 8

Moving away from the cabochon, stitch 24 rows of peyote stitch that is three beads wide.

Pass through the beads of the tenth row, pulling tight to create a loop with the strip of peyote stitch.

Step 9

Pass through beads down the peyote stitch strip and through the bezel, exiting from the first orange row of the bezel, five beads right of center.

Step 10

Repeat Step 8 to create a second bail loop then weave through adjacent beads down the peyote strip and into the bezel to secure the thread. If desired, add a knot for security.

Step 11

Cut a 3-foot length of Nymo and thread a beading needle. Pass through various seed beads of the first bail loop created, exiting from the outermost row on the orange loop.

Step 12

Using the tubular brick stitch technique, add a row of dark chocolate #11 seed beads and two rows of glazed luster light salmon #11 seed beads.

Pass back through adjacent beads to secure the thread, exiting from the last row added.

Step 13

Pick up three luster teal #15 seed beads, pass in through the next glazed luster light salmon #11 in the previous row. Pass out through the next glazed luster light salmon #11 then pick up three luster teal #15 seed beads.

Repeat three more times.

Step 14

Weave back through the added rows, exiting from the innermost row on the orange loop.

Step 15

Using the tubular brick stitch technique, add a row of dark chocolate #11 seed beads, two rows of glazed luster light salmon #11 seed beads and another row of dark chocolate #11 seed beads.

Weave around and through the beads of the second peyote stitch loop to connect the brick stitch, exiting from the outermost row.

Step 16

Repeat Steps 12 - 13.

Step 17

Weave through adjacent beads to secure the thread. If desired, add a knot for additional security.

Creating Fringe

Step 18

Cut a 3-foot length of Nymo then thread a beading needle.

Step 19

Pass through various seed beads of the bezel, exiting from the first orange #11 row, six beads from center.

Step 20

Pick up seed beads in the pattern and length of your choice, then string a 3mm silver-plated round, an 8x4mm wood oval and a 3mm silver-plated round.

Skipping the last silver-plated round, pass back through all the beads added.

Pass back through the orange #11 seed bead then pass out through the next orange #11 seed bead of the row.

Step 21

Pick up seed beads in the pattern and length of your choice and a 3mm silver-plated round.

Skipping the silver-plated round, pass back through all the beads added.

Pass back through the orange #11 seed bead then pass out through the next orange #11 seed bead of the row.

Step 22

Repeat Steps 20 - 21 five more times then repeat Step 20 once more.

Step 23

Cut a 24-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire.

Step 25

Pull the beading wire so the crimp rests snug against the Accu-Guard leaving approximately 1/4 inch of beading wire on the end.
