- Ear wire, sterling silver and cubic zirconia, clear, 16.5mm fishhook with 3.5mm faceted round and open loop, 21 gauge
- Seed bead, Miyuki, glass, translucent rainbow crystal clear, (RR250), #11 rocaille
- Needle, Tulip, nickel- and gold-plated steel, #11 with 0.52mm eye width, 2 inches
- Thread burner, The Bead Buddy® Perfect Thread Sealer II™, acrylic / aluminum / steel, silver and black, 5-1/2 inches
- Thread, Berkley® FireLine®, gel-spun polyethylene, smoke, 0.13mm diameter 4-fiber braid, 4-pound test
- Bead, blue sapphire (heated), 2-2.5mm faceted semi-round, C grade, Mohs hardness 9
- Pearl, Crystal Passions®, white, 4mm round (5810)
Instructions
Earring Instructions
Step 1
Add a beading needle to an arm-length of Fireline® thread.
Step 2
Pick up two 4mm pearls (core beads), leaving a 6-inch tail.
Step 3
Pick up two #11 seed beads, two 2mm sapphire rounds and two #11 seed beads (loop beads). Pass through both core beads again. Pull the thread snug to create a loop and push the loop to one side of the core beads.
Repeat to create a second loop, pushing it to the opposite side of the core beads.
Step 4
Pick up a pearl and a set of loop beads. Pass through the last two core beads added again and pull snug. Push the loop to one side of the core.
Pick up a set of loop beads and pull snug. Push the loop to the opposite side of the core.
Repeat to create a length of flat spiral stich with a total of 16 core beads.
Step 5
Bring the ends of the flat spiral rope together. Pass through the first core bead and pull the ends snug, creating a hoop.
Pass through the first set of loop beads then through the last and first core bead again. Repeat, passing through the second set of loop beads on the first core bead.
Step 6
Pick up:
- Two seed beads
- One sapphire
- The loop of an ear wire
- One sapphire
- Two seed beads
Pass through the last and first core bead again, pulling snug to create a small loop of beads. Pass through all the beads again. Tie a small knot between beads then trim.
