Instructions
Cut two yards (72 inches) of 6-pound test smoke FireLine® polyethylene thread. Thread one end onto a #11 Tulip 2-inch needle. Tie the other end onto a 20mm silver-plated hammered open round component using a surgeon’s knot followed by an overhand knot. Add a drop of G-S Hypo Cement® adhesive to the knot.
Condition and coat the thread with beeswax and paraffin wax thread conditioner.
Thread on a Dyna-Mites™ #11 rainbow dark green round seed bead and slide the bead all the way to the open round component. Pull the thread through the open round component. Then pass the thread through the seed bead, making sure the bead is lying on its side with the holes facing left to right.
Repeat Step 3 until there are 13 beads in a row.
Start your beading pattern, using darkest to lightest colors to create your desired pattern.
Tip: Free Printable Seed Bead Graph Paper is available for plotting your design.
String the first column, ending with a 2.5mm silver-plated round bead. When you get to the end of the column, string the thread back through all the beads, skipping the silver-plated bead. Once the thread reaches the top of the column, string it through the seed bead that is attached to the open round component. Pass the needle through the loop, securing the thread on the bead.
Make the next rows, following your desired pattern. Begin each row by stringing the thread through the top seed bead of the row, which is already attached to the open round component.
When you finish, tie off the thread with a surgeon’s knot followed by and overhand knot and a drop of G-S Hypo Cement adhesive. Trim the excess thread.
Attach the open round component to a 16mm 19-gauge silver-plated swirl ear wire.
Repeat Steps 1 – 8 for the second earrings.
