- Thread conditioner, beeswax / paraffin wax / acrylic, clear, 2 x 1/2 inch dispenser
- Needle, Tulip, nickel- and gold-plated steel, #11 with 0.52mm eye width, 2 inches
Instructions
- Cut two 30-inch lengths of TOHO BEADS®, One-G™ nylon thread, black, size 0.
- Cut two 4-inch lengths of ParaWire™, silver-plated copper, 24 gauge.
Build the ladder stitch base on to the bottom of beading hoop. For 1st row thread each dark smoky bead onto ear wire by wrapping around bottom bar, adding one bead at a time, having the thread come up through the next added bead. Using decreasing brick stitch, start on row 2, reducing the width gradually to create the triangular shape.
Row color placement (top to bottom):
- Row 1: (15) dark smoky amethyst bead
- Row 2: (14) dark purple bead
- Row 3: (13) bright purple bead
- Row 4: (12) translucent matte purple bead
- Row 5: (11) red violet beads
- Row 6: (10) cyan blue beads
- Row 7: (9) azure blue beads
- Row 8: (8) turquoise blue beads
- Row 9: (7) green beads
- Row 10: (6) kiwi beads
- Row 11: (5) chartreuse beads
- Row 12: (4) light lemon ice beads
- Row 13: (3) light lemon ice beads
- Row 14: (2) white beads
- Row 15: (1) white bead
To stitch each row:
- Bring the needle under the thread bridge of the previous row.
- Pick up one bead and pass back through it to secure in brick stitch.
- Continue across the row.
- At the beginning of each new row, start in the second thread bridge to create the decrease and maintain the triangle taper.
Continue until the top point bead is added.
- Weave the thread back down through several beads.
- Tie a small half-hitch knot between thread bridges.
- Trim excess thread.
- Take one 4-inch wire length.
- String in this order:
- 1 peridot crystal bicone
- 1 tanzanite crystal round
- 1 fire mix crystal briolette drop
- Form a wrapped loop above the top bead and trim excess wire.
- Attach the dangle to the top center loop of the triangle frame.
- Open the loop on one fishhook ear wire.
- Attach it to the top loop of the triangle frame.
- Close securely.
Repeat Steps 2–5 to create the second earring.
