I'm considering opening my own store, and I was wondering if you think it's a good idea for me to get a master's degree in business administration first?
Running a successful jewelry store (or any retail store, for that matter) doesn't require a graduate degree, or even an undergraduate degree, in business. And, depending on the program, you may learn more business theory than specific information that will help your retail operation. If you're still interested in classroom training, consider taking specific courses or seminars in retail management, finance or marketing. Your local chamber of commerce may also sponsor a series on retail management.
