Q.
How do I choose the size stretch cord to make bracelets?
- Monsi
A.
The size stretch cord needed for a project mostly depends on the size of the beads you are using and the diameter of the bead hole. Usually, the larger the bead the thicker diameter of stretch cord. Most beads have at least a 1mm hole that easily accommodates the 0.8mm or 1mm stretch cords. Either of these sizes are good for stretch bracelets.

We recommend Powercord® for its strength and resilience. Powercord ranges in diameter from 0.5mm to 2mm and comes in clear and several popular colors. A surgeon's or square knot would be the best way to finish the ends of stretch cord as each knot is very secure. Adding a drop of glue, like E-6000® Jewelry and Craft Adhesive or Loctite 409® gel adds an extra layer of security. E-6000 remains flexible after curing, which is a great advantage when using with stretch cording and Loctite 409 has gap filling properties which bonds the cords together.
