I'm looking into making LGBT jewelry or as you may know it pride jewelry but I'm not quite sure what beads and or materials I should go with?

LGBT stands for ''Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender'' and is a common acronym to describe members of those communities. Jewelry made specifically for this clientele is based on the rainbow flag, which consists of the 6 major colors in the naturally occurring sequence of the rainbow (and their meanings):
  • Red=life
  • Orange=healing
  • Yellow=sunlight
  • Green=nature
  • Blue=harmony
  • Violet=spirit
The original gay-pride flag was hand-dyed by Gilbert Baker. It flew in the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade on June 25, 1978. It has been suggested that Baker was inspired by Judy Garland's singing "Over the Rainbow."

Using those specific colors in any type of jewelry design could be given and/or sold as LGBT jewelry. Crystals and seed beads are commonly used in LGBT designs. Peruse the Gallery of Designs for other rainbow inspiration for your jewelry designs and have fun!
