Chrysanthemum stone, the "flower stone," displays tan, brown, mahogany or golden color with dark veins--"flowered" inclusions. Called the "Stone of Wealth and Honor" by the Chinese people for centuries, chrysanthemum stone is also the official symbol of the Chinese imperial family.

Chrysanthemum stone blends the beauty of both earth and moon. It contains the rich dark brown color of soil and the golden glow of moonlight. Geological Properties
Chrysanthemum stone was formed many millions of years ago when the strata deposit of mud that was rich in organic materials occurred at the bottom of a sea. Chrysanthemum stone is comprised dolomite, gypsum-laden clay or limestone with crystals of andalusite, celestite, feldspar or calcite which form inclusions reminiscent of blooming chrysanthemum flowers. In addition to China, chrysanthemum stone has been found in Canada, Japan and the USA.

Proper Care of Chrysanthemum Stone
Chrysanthemum stone can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Avoid exposure to household chemicals and extreme heat. You should protect chrysanthemum stone jewelry from sharp blows, as they can shatter the stone.
