Multi-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Gemstone Beads and Czech Glass Beads

Creating the links

STEP 1
Place a 4mm round turquoise blue jade bead onto an eyepin. Form a simple loop above the bead.

Repeat to create ninety-six 4mm turquoise blue jade bead links.

Repeat to create twenty-five 4mm brown druk bead links, and twenty-two 4mm light bronze with mirror finish druk bead links.

Setting the cabochon

STEP 2
Apply a bead of adhesive around the bottom edge of the 16mm blue howlite cab. Center the cabochon in the center of the cab mount. Using chain-nose pliers, bend the prongs down evenly over the cabochon, to secure it in place. Set aside and allow the adhesive to cure.

Creating the beaded wire element

STEP 3
Place the round-nose pliers 2 inches down from one end of the 16-inch piece of 18-gauge wire. Bend the long length of wire out to the right of the pliers--the 2-inch length of wire pointing straight up will be the center position of the wire element.

Reposition the pliers about 1-inch down the wire. Wrap the wire around the nose of one barrel on the pliers, positioning the wire so it's now pointing to the left. Place the round-nose pliers on the wire 1-inch past center. Wrap the wire around the nose of one barrel on the pliers, positioning the wire so it's now pointing to the right.

Continue to curve the wire to the right and to the left, creating a nice curvaceous wire element which gets a bit wider with the next layer and then gradually decreases back to the width you started with.

Form a wrapped loop on each end.
STEP 4
Starting at one end, wrap the 24-gauge wire around the center of the loops, securing them together. As you work the wire from loop to loop, securing each layer together, look at the wires progression on the front of the piece and plan where you would like to place accent beads which will add color and help to disguise some of the wrapping.

To add a bead: as the wire wraps to the front of the wire element, string on a 4mm blue jade bead, then continue to wrap the wire toward the back. Place an odd number of beads--3 or 5 to complement the design of the wire element.

Assembling the necklace

STEP 5
Using two pairs of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring and pass it through the loop on the oval-half of the clasp and the loop of one brown bead link. Close the jumpring. Add a jumpring to the loop on the other end of the brown bead link.

Using two pairs of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring and pass it through the loop of the clasp, above the first jumpring and add the loop of one blue bead link. Close the jumpring. Add a jumpring to the loop on the other end of the blue bead link.
STEP 6
Using the side-cutting pliers, cut an 8-inch piece of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire. String onto the wire, one crimp tube and 1/2 inch piece of French wire. Pass the wire through the jumpring on the end of the brown link and back through the crimp bead--position the Accu-Flex® beading wire so you have 1-inch on one side of the crimp bead and 7 inches on the other side. Push the crimp bead, while gently pulling the wire, moving the crimp toward the jumpring--forming the French wire into a nicely curved tube.

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using the side-cutting pliers, trim any excess wire from the short end.
STEP 7
String onto the beading wire, two 6mm blue howlite beads, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, and one 10mm tortoise druk bead.
STEP 8
String onto the beading wire, two 6mm blue howlite beads, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 8mm blue howlite bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, and one 10mm tortoise druk bead.

Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using side-cutting pliers, trim any excess wire.
STEP 9
Using chain-nose pliers, open one loop on a blue bead link then pass it through the loop on the bottom of the cab mount. Close the loop. Open the other loop on the blue bead link and pass it through the wrapped loop on one end of the wire element.
STEP 10
Repeat Step 6 to attach a 24-inch length of Accu-Flex® beading wire to the bottom wrapped loop of the wire element.
STEP 11
String onto the beading wire, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, one 10mm tortoise druk bead, 8mm blue howlite bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, 8mm blue howlite bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, 8mm blue howlite bead, one 12mm tortoise druk bead, 8mm blue howlite bead, and one 12mm tortoise druk bead.

String on one 8mm blue howlite bead and one 10mm tortoise druk bead. Repeat this pattern 9 more times.

Sting onto the beading wire one 8mm blue howlite bead, and two 6 mm blue howlite beads.
STEP 12
Place one crimp tube onto the beading wire after the last bead then a 1/2 inch piece of French wire. Pass the beading wire through a jumpring then back through the crimp tube. Pull the wire snugly so the crimp and the French wire are closer to the last bead and the French wire is a nicely curved tube. Make sure there is no slack. Using the crimping pliers, crimp the crimp tube. Using side-cutting pliers, trim any excess wire.
STEP 13
Open a loop on one brown link and pass it through the 4mm jumpring from Step 12. Close the loop. Open the loop on the other end of the brown link and pass it through a 4mm jumpring. Close the loop. Using chain-nose pliers, open the jumpring and pass it through the loop on the other half of the clasp. Close the jumpring.
STEP 14
Using two pair of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring and pass it through the loop on the clasp, above the jumpring added in Step 13, and through the loop on a blue bead link. Close the jumpring.

Add a brown bead link to the blue bead link. Add a blue bead link to the brown bead link.

Using two pair of chain-nose pliers, open a jumpring and pass it through the loop on the bottom of the blue bead link and through the 14mm link from a length of chain, a large jumpring or a 14mm donut bead.
