Triple-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Terra Rosa Jasper Gemstone Beads and Focal, Sterling Silver Link and Kumihimo Thread

Necklace

STEP 1
Using scissors cut the following:
  • Eight 9-foot lengths of royal blue Purely Silk™ size FF silk thread
  • Three 6-foot lengths of royal blue Purely Silk size FF silk thread
  • Two 9-foot lengths of turquoise Nymo® size D nylon thread
Using flush-cutters cut 14-inch lengths of sterling silver half-hard 24-gauge wire and sterling silver dead-soft 28-gauge wire.
STEP 2
String one terra rosa jasper matte 6mm round onto the 14-inch length of 28-gauge wire. Position the bead so it rests in there center of the wire.
STEP 3
Place the 6mm round over the center hole on one sterling silver 24mm round link. Pass one end of the wire down through the adjacent holes on each side center hole. Pull the ends of the wire so the 6mm round rests snug over the center hole.

Pass one end of the wire up through the adjacent top hole and the opposite end of the wire up through the adjacent bottom hole.
STEP 4
Wrap the ends of the wire around the base of the base of the bead to secure it in place then trim excess wire.

Knotted Strand

STEP 5
Fold one 6-foot length of royal blue silk thread in half and pass the folded center through the center of one terra rosa japer 30mm donut focal. Using a lark’s head knot secure the thread to the donut focal.
STEP 6
Position both ends of the silk thread so they are even then thread through a beading needle.
STEP 7
String one terra rosa jasper matte 6mm round onto the thread to approximately 1/8th inch from the donut focal. Use The Bead Knotter™ to create a knot to secure it in place.

Continue to string a total of fifty 6mm rounds creating a knot after each bead.
STEP 8
Place a bead tip over the last knot on the strand. Place a small amount of Vigor® Super Glue over the knot then gently close the bead tip. Remove the beading needle and trim excess thread.

Using round-nose pliers to close the loop at the top of the bead tip.
STEP 9
Repeat Steps 5 - 8 to create a second strand to the right of the previous strand using forty terra rosa jasper matte 8mm rounds.

Repeat to create a third strand using thirty-four terra rosa jasper matte 10mm rounds.

Kumihimo Strand

STEP 10
Match up one end of eight 9-foot lengths of royal blue silk thread and two strand of turquoise blue Nymo® nylon thread. Fold the cords in half and match up the ends, creating eighteen strands.
STEP 11
Pass the folded center of the gathered cords through the center of the donut focal on the opposite side from the knotted strands. Using a lark’s head knot secure the lengths of thread to the donut focal.
STEP 12
Place the knotted strands and donut focal through the center of a Kumihimo disc. Secure the lengths of thread in the slots on the disc making sure that the turquoise nylon threads are placed in slots opposite each other. Weave a basic 8-cord pattern until the cord is 13 inches in length.

Tip: It may be helpful to wrap the loose end of each length of thread in a Huggy Spool® to keep the thread from tangling.
STEP 13
Remove the threads from the disk then tie an overhand knot to secure the end of the braided cord. Tighten the knot.
STEP 14
Place a small amount of Vigor Super Glue on the end of the braided cord. Press one end of the 14-inch length of 24-gauge wire through the center of the braided cord and tightly wrap the wire around the end tight to secure, leaving approximately 6 inches on the end.
STEP 15
String one antiqued sterling silver 18.5x6mm woven cone onto the wire. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a wrapped loop on the straight end of the wire.
STEP 16
Using chain-nose pliers and bent-nose pliers, open one 8mm twisted jumpring and four 4mm jumprings then remove the rings on one hook-and-eye clasp.
STEP 17
Pass the 8mm jumpring through the loop on the end of the braided cord. Close the jumpring.

Pass one 4mm jumpring through the top loop on the edge of the 24mm round link from Step 3 and the loop on the hook-and-eye clasp and close.
STEP 18
Pass one 4mm jumpring through the bead tip loop on the end of the 6mm round strand and the bottom left leaf cut out on the 24mm round link and close.

Repeat to attach the 8mm round strand to the bottom loop and the 10mm round strand to the bottom right leaf cut out on the 24mm round link.

Earrings

STEP 1
Cut two 1-foot lengths of royal blue Purely Silk size FF silk thread.

Using flush-cutters trim the loop off of the bottom of two fancy kidney earwires.
STEP 2
String onto one terra rosa jasper matte 10mm round onto one sterling silver 2-inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a 10mm round drop. Repeat to create a second 10mm round drop.

Attach an 8mm twisted jumpring to the loop on each 10mm round drop.
STEP 3
String one 10mm round drop onto one end of a 1-foot length of silk thread then fold the thread in half.
STEP 4
Position both ends of the silk thread so they are even then thread through a beading needle.
STEP 5
Use The Bead Knotter™ to create a knot to secure the drop in place.

Continue to string one 8mm round and one 6mm round creating a knot after each bead.
STEP 6
Place a bead tip over the last knot. Place a small amount of Vigor Super Glue over the knot then gently close the bead tip. Remove the beading needle and trim excess thread.
STEP 7
Using round-nose pliers to close the loop at the top of the bead tip.

String the loop on the bead tip onto one fancy kidney earwire.
STEP 8
Repeat Steps 3 - 7 to create a second earring.
