Multi-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Steel Drops, Wood Beads and Antiqued Brass-Finished Chain

Drop and Link Components

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters cut the following lengths of antiqued brass-finished 5x3mm cable chain:
  • Four 3-1/2 inch lengths
  • One 9-1/2 inch length
  • One 10-inch length
  • One 12-inch length
  • One 13-inch length
  • One 14-inch length
STEP 2
String one wood yellow 5x4mm barrel onto one antiqued brass-finished 3/4 inch headpin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a yellow barrel drop. Repeat to create a total of five yellow barrel drops.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Fourteen light forest green barrel drops
  • Fifteen lime green barrel drops
  • Sixteen orange barrel drops
  • Fifteen light orange barrel drops
  • Twelve light blue barrel drops
  • Seven dark yellow 6mm round drops
  • Thirteen yellow 6mm round drops
STEP 3
String one yellow barrel onto one antiqued brass-finished 1-1/4 inch eyepin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a yellow barrel link. Repeat to create a total of five yellow barrel links.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Two light forest green barrel links
  • Seven lime green barrel links
  • Seven orange barrel links
  • Three light orange barrel links
  • Eleven light blue barrel links
  • Two yellow 6mm round links
STEP 4
Using round-nose pliers grasp the end (with no hole) of one antiqued gold-plated 28x5mm drop. Twist the pliers up creating a loop. Readjust the pliers in the same place on the drop and continue to loosely roll the drop around itself leaving approximately 1/4 inch on the opposite end creating an antiqued gold-plated rolled drop. Repeat to create a total of thirteen antiqued gold-plated rolled drops varying the size/tightness of the roll.

Repeat to create a total of eleven antiqued silver-plated 28x5mm rolled drops.
STEP 5
Using a pair of flat-nose pliers grasp the end of one antiqued gold-plated 28x5mm drop. Bend the end of the drop creating an approximately 40 degree angle. Create a second angle in the same direction on the drop approximately 1/4 inch from the previous creating a zigzag drop. Repeat to create a total of eight antiqued gold-plated zigzag drops.

Repeat to create a total of nine antiqued silver-plated zigzag drops.
STEP 6
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers open the loop on one end of one lime green barrel link. Pass the loop through the hole on one antiqued gold-plated rolled drop from Step 4. Close the loop. Repeat to create a second lime green barrel an antiqued gold-plated rolled drop.

Repeat to create the following:
  • Two light blue and antiqued gold-plated rolled drops
  • Two orange barrel and antiqued silver-plated rolled drops
  • Two yellow 6mm round and antiqued silver-plated rolled drops
Attach the remaining rolled drops to assorted color barrel links.

Necklace

STEP 7
Open forty-one antiqued gold-plated 5mm jumprings.

First Strand

STEP 8
Open the loop on one lime green barrel drop. Pass the loop through the first link on one end of the 9-1/2 inch length of chain. Close the loop.

Repeat to attach the following drops to every other link in a random pattern:
  • Four more lime green barrel drops
  • Six light blue barrel drops
  • Two yellow barrel drops
  • Four orange barrel drops
  • Six light forest green barrel drops
  • Four light orange barrel drops
  • Two dark yellow 6mm round drops
  • Three yellow 6mm round drops

Second Strand

STEP 9
Repeat to attach the following drops to every other link in a random pattern on the 13-inch length of chain:
  • Seven lime green barrel drops
  • Six light blue barrel drops
  • Seven orange barrel drops
  • Six light forest green barrel drops
  • Seven light orange barrel drops
  • Five dark yellow 6mm round drops
  • Ten yellow 6mm round drops

Third Strand

STEP 10
Attach a barrel drop to the 10-inch length of chain on the first, second, twenty-eighth and thirty-second links.

Attach one barrel and antiqued gold-plated rolled drop to the eighteenth (lime green barrel) and twenty-sixth (light blue barrel) links.

Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued gold-plated zigzag drop to the twenty-second and thirtieth links.
STEP 11
Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued gold-plated 16mm flat round to the thirty-ninth link of chain.
STEP 12
Repeat Step 10 on the opposite end of the chain to complete the strand.

Fourth Strand

STEP 13
Attach a barrel drop to the 12-inch length of chain on the second, fifth and thirty-forth links.
STEP 14
Attach one barrel and antiqued silver-plated rolled drop to the sixteenth (orange barrel) and thirty-eighth (yellow 6mm round) links.

Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued silver-plated zigzag drop to the twenty-fourth and thirty-second links.

Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued gold-plated flat round to the twentieth and twenty-eighth and thirty-sixth links.
STEP 15
Continue to attach one antiqued silver-plated zigzag drop to the fortieth link.
STEP 16
Attach a barrel drop to the second, sixth, eighth and thirty-third links then repeat Step 14 on the opposite end of the chain.

Fifth Strand

STEP 17
Attach a barrel drop to the second link on the 14-inch length of chain.

Attach one barrel and antiqued gold-plated rolled drop to the ninth, nineteenth, twenty-sixth, thirtieth, thirty-sixth, forty-second and forty-fourth links.

Attach one barrel and antiqued silver-plated rolled drop to the thirteenth, twenty-first, twenty-fifth, thirty-third and thirty-ninth links.
STEP 18
Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued silver-plated leaf drop to the sixteenth, twenty-eighth and fortieth links.

Using a 5mm jumpring attach one antiqued gold-plated open round drop to the twenty-second and thirty-forth links.
STEP 19
Using a 5mm jumpring continue to attach one antiqued gold-plated open round drop to the forty-sixth link.
STEP 20
Repeat Step 17 and 18 on the opposite end of the chain to complete the strand.

Necklace Assembly

STEP 21
Using a 5mm jumpring attach the first link on one end of the 9-1/2 inch length of chain to one antiqued gold-plated 16x16mm open flat square component.

Repeat to attach each length of chain to the open square component graduating the lengths.
STEP 22
Repeat to attach the last link on the last link on the opposite end of each length of chain to a second open square component.

Note: When attaching the third strand add one barrel drop to the jumpring as well.
STEP 23
Pass one 5mm jumpring through the loop on one portion of one antiqued gold-finished 17mm toggle clasp and the first link on two 3-1/2 inch lengths of chain. Close the jumpring.

Using a 5mm jumpring attach the last links on the opposite ends of the chain to one open square component attached to the graduated lengths of chain.
STEP 24
Repeat to attach two 3-1/2 inch lengths of chain to the second portion of the clasp and the open square component on the opposite end of the necklace.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using flush-cutters cut two 1-inch lengths of antiqued brass-finished 5x3mm cable chain.
STEP 2
String one wood yellow 5x4mm barrel onto one antiqued brass-finished 3/4 inch headpin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a yellow barrel drop.

Repeat to create the following:
  • A second yellow barrel drop
  • Two light orange barrel drops
  • Two light forest green barrel drops.
STEP 3
String one light blue barrel onto one antiqued brass-finished 1-1/4 inch eyepin. Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire creating a light blue barrel link.

Repeat to create the following:
  • A second light blue barrel link
  • Two orange barrel link
  • Two yellow 6mm round links
STEP 4
Using round-nose pliers grasp the end (with no hole) of one antiqued gold-plated 28x5mm drop. Twist the pliers up creating a loop. STEP 5
Open the loop on one end of one light blue barrel link. Pass the loop through the hole on one rolled drop. Close the loop. Repeat to create a total of six barrel and roll drops.
STEP 6
Attach one end of one yellow 6mm round link to one antiqued gold-plated 15mm flat round creating a 6mm round and flat round drop. Repeat to create a total of two 6mm round and flat round drops.
STEP 7
Open four antiqued gold-plated 5mm jumprings.
STEP 8
Attach the following to one 1-inch length of chain:
  • First link; one 6mm round and flat round drop
  • Second link; one light forest green barrel drop
  • Fourth link: one orange barrel and rolled drop
  • Fifth link: one yellow barrel drop
  • Sixth link: one lime green barrel and rolled drop
  • Last link: one light orange barrel drop and one light blue barrel and rolled drop
STEP 9
Attach the following to the second 1-inch length of chain:
  • First link; one 6mm round and flat round drop
  • Second link; one light forest green barrel drop
  • Fourth link: one orange barrel and rolled drop
  • Fifth link: one light orange barrel drop
  • Sixth link: one lime green barrel and rolled drop
  • Last link: one yellow barrel drop and one light blue barrel and rolled drop
STEP 10
Pass one 5mm jumpring through the loop on the last link on one 1-inch length of chain and the last link on one 1-inch length of chain. Close the jumpring.

Repeat to attach an earwire to the second length of chain.
