Double-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Blue Lace Agate Gemstone Beads, Wirework and Czech Crystal Beads

Necklace

STEP 1
Cut the following:
  • Two 15-inch lengths of Accu-Flex professional-quality beading wire
  • Sterling silver 1.5mm cable chain: one 5-1/2 inch, two 6-1/2 inch and one 8-1/2 inch length
  • Three 1/2 inch lengths of French wire
  • Two 11-inch and two 14-inch lengths of sterling silver half-hard 20-gauge wire (base wire)
  • One 3-foot length of sterling silver dead-soft 26-gauge wire (working wire)
Note: It may be necessary to cut additional lengths of 26-gauge wire later in the design.
STEP 2
Match up one end of the 14-inch lengths of 20-gauge wire. Place a small amount of masking tape around the base wires, approximately 3 inches from the end, to keep the ends in place.

Wrap the doubled wire around a ring mandrel to form it into a spiral.
STEP 3
Wrap one end of the wrapping wire around one base wire approximately four times, beginning close to the tape. Tightly wrap the working wire in the opposite direction approximately two times, around the opposite base wire.

Trim excess wire from the short end of the working wire and press the end flush.
STEP 4
Continue to wrap the working wire around the base wires for approximately 2 inches. Separate the wire slightly then continue to wrap across the gap, continuing to widen the gap as you wrap, for approximately 1-1/2 inches.

Continue to wrap, gradually decreasing the gap between the base wires for approximately 1-1/2 inches. Continue to wrap for approximately 1/2 inch then wrap around both base wires in the same direction to secure. Trim excess working wire.
STEP 5
Form a loop on one end of one base wire then loosely spiral the wire a couple of times. Repeat to create a loose spiral on each end of each base wire.
STEP 6
Match up one end of the 11-inch lengths of 20-gauge wire. Place a small amount of masking tape around the base wires, approximately 1-1/2 inches from the end.

Wrap the doubled wire around a ring mandrel to forming it into a spiral.
STEP 7
Wrap the short end of the wires around the previous wire spiral, approximately 1-1/2 inches from one end.
STEP 8
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to wire wrap the base wires varying the gap distance according to preference.

Form loose spirals on each end of each base wire.
STEP 9
Attach one end of one 3-foot length of wrapping wire to the 14-inch spiral component just above where the 11-inch component is attached.

String one light rose 4mm bicone and two matte sky blue seed beads. Pass the wire down through the wire spiral and around the opposite base wire. Repeat to weave through the wire spiral working toward the opposite end. Secure the wrapping wire then trim excess.
STEP 10
Attach one end of one 3-foot length of wrapping wire to the 14-inch spiral component just below the 11-inch component. Wire wrap light rose bicones and seed beads in the pattern of your choice, working toward the opposite end of the 11-inch spiral component. Secure the wrapping wire then trim excess.
STEP 11
String onto one 15-inch length of beading wire: one crimp and one length of French wire. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp. Pull the beading wire so the crimp rests snug against the French wire (creating a loop) leaving approximately 1/4 inch of beading wire on the end.

Crimp then trim the excess from the short end of the beading wire.
STEP 12
Pass one 5mm jumpring through the French wire loop and one base wire spiral on the end of the 11-inch spiral component.
STEP 13
String the following onto the beading wire:
  • One light rose 4mm bicone
  • One light rose 6mm bicone
  • One blue lace agate 10x8mm oval
  • One light rose 6mm bicone
  • One blue lace agate 18x13mm oval

  • One light rose 6mm bicone
  • One blue lace agate 18x13mm oval
  • One light rose 6mm bicone
  • One blue lace agate 10x8mm oval
STEP 14
Repeat Step 11 to secure the strand then wrap the beading wire around the length of the 11-inch wire spiral. Pass a small length of wire through the French wire loop. Attach to the spiral component at the base wire, wrap around the 14-inch spiral then trim excess wire.
STEP 15
Repeat Step 11 to begin the second strand. Use one 5mm jumpring to attach the French wire loop to one spiral on the longer end (top) of the 14-inch spiral component.
STEP 16
String the following onto the beading wire:
  • One light rose 4mm bicone
  • One light rose 6mm bicone

  • One blue lace agate 10x8mm oval
  • One light rose 6mm bicone

STEP 18
Use one 4mm jumpring to attach the first link on the 5-1/2 inch length of chain to the top spiral on the 11-inch spiral component. Repeat to attach one 6-1/2 inch to the bottom spiral.

Use one 4mm jumpring to attach the last link on the 5-1/2 inch chain to the top loop on one portion of the clasp and the 6-1/2 inch length of chain to the bottom loop.

Repeat to attach the second 6-1/2 inch length of chain and the 8-1/2 inch length of chain to the spirals on the 14-inch spiral.
