Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski® Crystals, Amethyst Gemstone Beads and Stainless Steel Ball Chain

Necklace

STEP 1
Cut the following:
  • 42 6-inch lengths of 1.5mm ball chain
  • Four 9-foot lengths of silver Satinique® 1mm mini cord
  • Four 9-foot lengths of turquoise blue Purely Silk® thread
  • Four 2-foot lengths of FireLine®
STEP 2
Place one 5.5x3mm side clamp-on bead tip on one end of one length of ball chain. Repeat to add one bead tip to the opposite end of the ball chain.

Repeat for the remaining lengths of ball chain.
STEP 3
String one silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed bead, one amethyst 4mm round and one silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed bead onto one 1-inch headpin then form a simple loop.

Repeat to create a total of 12 amethyst drops, 12 olivine drops and 12 light turquoise drops.
STEP 4
String the following onto one 1-inch headpin:
  • One silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed bead
  • One olivine 4mm bicone
  • One amethyst 4mm round
  • One silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed bead
Form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire.

Repeat to create a total of six olivine and amethyst drops.
STEP 5
Repeat Step 4 creating the following:
  • Seven amethyst and olivine drops (this will be the same as Step 4 with the amethyst and olivine switching spots)
  • Nine amethyst and light turquoise drops
  • Five amethyst and light turquoise drops (switch the placement of the amethyst and light turquoise beads from the previous drops to create these)
  • Six light turquoise and olivine drops
  • Ten olivine and light turquoise drops (switch the placement of the light turquoise and olivine beads to create these drops)
STEP 6
Mix a large amount of equal portions of Apoxie Sculpt® for two minutes, or until thoroughly blended.

Apply portions of Apoxie Sculpt to one 23x5mm curved tube bead until the entire bead is covered and the amount of apoxie is approximately two millimeters thick.
STEP 7
While the epoxy is still wet, apply one coat of silver Swellegant!™ metal coating to the tube bead. Repeat until you've reached the desired coverage.

Note: Apoxie Sculpt has a 1 - 3 hour working time.
STEP 8
Working with the wet epoxy, place one inch of ball chain onto the apoxie approximately one inch from one end of the chain.

Repeat to attach a total of 14 chains to the apoxie tube bead.

Tip: One end of the ball chain will be a shorter dangling end while the other end will be a longer dangling end.
STEP 9
Repeats Steps 7 and 8 to create a total of three chain tube beads.

Allow the chain tube beads to cure according to manufacturer's instructions.
STEP 10
Thread the FireLine onto a #10 beading needle almost doubling the thread (to make it easier to work with) but leaving a tail so you are working with only one thread. Knot the end of the two threads together to secure.
STEP 11
String two silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed beads, one light turquoise 4mm round and two silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed beads onto the thread.

Continue to string two silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed beads, up through the previous light turquoise 4mm round and two silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed beads.
STEP 12
Continue the pattern established in Step 11 until you have added five light turquoise beads.

To end the length, weave the thread back through several of the beads first used and then secure with a knot.

Tip: The inner diameter of the finished circular pattern should be approximately 5mm.
STEP 13
Repeat Steps 10 - 12 to create a total of four beaded beads.
STEP 14
Using the four 9-foot lengths of silver Satinique 1mm mini cord and four 9-foot lengths of turquoise blue silk thread, create a Kumihimo braid approximately 22 - 24 inches in length.
STEP 15
Tie an overhand knot and apply a small amount of adhesive on one end of the Kumihimo strand. Insert the end (approximately 1 inch) of the length of wire through the braided thread. Wrap the wire around itself and the thread 2 - 3 times then trim excess thread. Do not trim the wire.
STEP 16
String one light turquoise 4mm round and one silver-lined transparent ruby #11 seed bead onto the wire then form a wrapped loop.
STEP 17
String the following onto the Kumihimo length on the opposite end from Step 13:
  • Repeat this sequence to string three sets:
    • One beaded bead
    • One chain tube bead
  • One beaded bead

Tip: Glue may be used within the above beads once placement has been determined to ensure permanency.
STEP 18
Repeat Steps 15 and 16 for the remaining end of the Kumihimo length.

Pass one 4mm jumpring through the loop on one wrapped loop on one end of the Kumihimo length and the loop on one portion of the toggle clasp then close.

Repeat for the opposite end of the Kumihimo length to secure the necklace.

Using 4mm jumprings, repeat to attach the remaining drops to the remaining bead tips.
