Single-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski® Crystals, Gold-Finished "Pewter" Focal and Viking Knit Wire

Necklace

STEP 1
Cut one 23-inch length of Accu-Flex® professional-quality beading wire, one 1-3/4 inch length of 26 gauge Zebra Wire™ and one 3-foot length of gold-plated brass 31 gauge wire.
STEP 2
Following the directions in the Viking Knit set, use gold colored 26-gauge wire to weave a 9-inch section of wire tubing drawing the finished wire to approximately 6mm in diameter.
STEP 3
On one end of the Viking Knit strand, secure one end of the 3-foot length of wire to the Viking Knit by weaving in and out of the weave, leave a 1-inch length of wire sticking out of the end of strand. Form a wrapped loop with the 1-inch length of wire.
STEP 4
String one 4mm amethyst bicone onto the 3-foot length of wire then pass the end of the wire through the end of the Viking Knit, near the wrapped loop, securing the bicone to the weave. Repeat, working down and around the knit strand to create a solid coat of 4mm amethyst bicones. (You do not want to be able to see the weave through this layer of bicones.) When the coat reaches approximately 1-1/4 inch in length, switch out 4mm amethyst bicones with 4mm light amethyst bicones for another 1/2 inch. Quickly taper off the amount of bicones over the next 1/2 inch so the Viking Knit becomes clearly visible. Keeping the knit clearly visible, begin stringing 3mm light amethyst bicones and continue weaving into the Viking Knit until the first half of the strand has been covered.
STEP 5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 on the opposite end of the Viking Knit strand to create a mirrored bicone coat.

Note: More wire may need to be cut and attached during the weaving process.
STEP 6
Create a wrapped loop using the 1-3/4 inch length of Zebra Wire, then string three sets of:
  • One 7x4mm bead cap
  • One 6mm amethyst round
  • One 7x4mm bead cap
  • One 4mm amethyst round
Form a wrapped loop with the remaining length of wire to create an amethyst link.
STEP 7
Pass one 6mm jumpring through the loop of one 22x12mm key focal and a loop of the amethyst link then close to create a key drop.
STEP 8
String onto the Accu-Flex beading wire: one crimp and one Accu-Guard™ wire protector. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp. Pull the beading wire so the crimp rests snug against the Accu-Guard leaving approximately 1/4 inch of beading wire on the end. Crimp then trim excess from the short end of the beading wire.
STEP 9
String 30 sets of:
  • One 4mm amethyst round
  • One 7x4mm bead cap
  • One 6mm amethyst round
  • One 7x4mm bead cap
STEP 10
Continue to string the following:
  • Two sets of:
    • One 4mm amethyst round
    • One 12x5mm bead cap
    • One 10mm amethyst round
    • One 12x5mm bead cap
    • One 4mm amethyst
    • One 7x4mm bead cap
    • One 6mm amethyst round
    • One 7x4mm bead cap
    • One 4mm amethyst round
  • Three sets of:
    • One 12x5mm bead cap
    • One 10mm amethyst round
    • One 12x5mm bead cap
STEP 11
String the following:
  • One 4mm amethyst round
  • Two sets of:
    • One 7x4mm bead cap
    • One 6mm amethyst round
    • One 7x4mm bead cap
    • One 4mm amethyst round
Repeat Step 10 in the opposite direction to complete stringing.
STEP 12
Repeat Step 8 to secure the strand.
STEP 13
Use 6mm jumprings to attach one end of the Viking Knit strand, the Accu-Guard closest to the 10mm amethyst rounds on the beading wire and the key drop to the bar of the padlock focal.

Connect the remaining Accu-Guard to the remaining Viking Knit wrapped loop with one 4mm jumpring.
