Two-Piece Necklace and Earring Set with Swarovski® Crystals and Seed Beads

27-Inch Necklace

STEP 1
Mix Devcon® 5 Minute® 2-part epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions.

Apply a thin layer of epoxy to the center of the setting in one 13x11mm oval tab clasp and the back of one amethyst 8x6mm oval fancy stone. Press the fancy stone into the setting then allow the clasp to set for approximately 5 minutes.
STEP 2
Attach 10.5x7.5mm triangle design ice-pick bails to two amethyst 16mm pear drops and one amethyst 22mm pear drop.
STEP 3
Cut an approximately 1-yard length of FireLine® thread, three 1/2 inch lengths of French wire and fourteen 1-inch and one 3-1/4 inch lengths of long and short oval chain.

Thread a beading needle onto one end of the thread, leaving an approximately 6-inch tail. Attach a stop bead to the end of the thread.

Seed Bead Focal

STEP 4
String enough gold luster grey #11 seed beads to fit the circumference of a 14mm rivoli, approximately 38 seed beads. Pass the needle through the seed beads once more. Pull the thread snug, but not tight, creating a ring, then tie a surgeon's knot.
STEP 5
Begin even count circular peyote stitch by stringing one #11 seed bead then pass the needle through the third bead in the base row (skipping one bead from where your needle exited). String one seed bead, skip a seed bead, then pass through the next bead in the base row. Repeat this pattern all the way around the base row of seed beads, creating a third row.

Notes:
  • The base row of seed beads creates the first two rows of peyote stitch
  • There should be half of the number of beads initially strung in each additional row
STEP 6
After adding the last seed bead in the third row, step up by passing the needle up through the first seed bead in the third row, then create a fourth row.
STEP 7
Continue the circular peyote stitch for two rows using #15 Delica seed beads.

Note: The seed beads will begin to curve in with each additional row, forming a channel.

Pass through the last #15 seed bead and step up.

String one #15 Delica seed bead then pass through the next three #15 seed bead from the previous rows. Continue to add a last row of #15 seed beads, passing through the next three seed beads along the edge of the bezel.

Pass through adjacent seed beads in the rows exiting along the opposite edge. Insert the 14mm rivoli into the center of the bezel then repeat to secure the bezel around the rivoli. Pass through adjacent seed beads to secure the thread, then trim excess.
STEP 8
Thread a needle onto a new length of thread. Exit a seed bead along the second row of #11 seed beads, from the front of the bezel, then create a two #11 seed bead wide by 1/4 inch long peyote stitch strip, working off of the bezel.

Pass back and forth through adjacent seed beads back down to the bezel. Continue through the next seed bead in the row of on one side of the strip.
STEP 9
String one amethyst 2mm round, skip a seed bead and pass through the next seed bead in the row. Continue the circular peyote using 2mm rounds along the second row to the opposite side of the strip. Pass through the seed beads under the strip then though the first amethyst 2mm round.

Continue to create a second circular peyote stitch row using amethyst 2mm rounds.
STEP 10
Pass through the rows exiting the third row, approximately four seed beads from the center on the opposite end of the bezel, from the peyote stitch strip.

String the following:
  • Two #11 seed beads
  • 21 light Colorado topaz 4mm rondelles
  • One length of French wire
  • The bail on one 16mm pear drop
Pass the needle back through the beads, then continue through the next seed bead in the third row, creating a beaded drop.

Continue to pass through the row exiting directly opposite from the strip. Create a second beaded drop, using 26 light Colorado topaz 4mm rondelles and the 22mm pear drop then create a duplicate of the 16mm pear drop. Secure the thread, then trim excess.
STEP 11
Remove the stop bead then thread a needle onto the tail. Repeat to secure the tail.
STEP 12
Create an approximately 22 x 10 row strip (depending on the desired size of the bar) even count peyote strip.

Stitch the first and last row of the strip together, zig-zagging between the seed beads and securing the ends together, creating a bar.
STEP 13
Exiting along the edge of the bar, string one amethyst 2mm round, skip a seed bead and pass through the next seed bead along the edge. Repeat this pattern to stitch a total of five 2mm rounds. Pass through adjacent seed beads to the opposite end of the tube then repeat to attach 2mm rounds.
STEP 14
Pass through adjacent seed beads to the center of the bar then stitch the end of the strip on the bezel to the bar. Secure the thread, then trim excess.

Necklace Assembly

STEP 15
String onto one 1-inch eye pin: one amethyst 4mm bicone, one light Colorado topaz 6mm rondelle and one amethyst 4mm bicone, then form a simple loop. Repeat to create a total of 14 light Colorado topaz links.
STEP 16
Connect the following end-to end to create the necklace:
  • One portion of the tab clasp
  • One 4mm jump ring
  • Seven sets of:
    • One 1-inch length of chain
    • One light Colorado topaz link
  • One 3-1/4 inch length of chain
STEP 17
String the tube of the seed bead focal onto the 3-1/4 inch length of chain then repeat Step 16 in the opposite order using the second portion of the clasp.

Choker Necklace

STEP 1
Cut the following lengths:
  • One 12-inch length of faux suede cord
  • Three 1/2 inch lengths of French wire
  • Long and short oval chain: one 3/4 inch and one 3-3/4 inch length
  • One approximately 1-yard length of FireLine thread
Thread a beading needle onto the thread, leaving an approximately 6-inch tail.
STEP 2
Attach a 10.5x7.5mm triangle design ice-pick bail to two amethyst 16mm pear drops and one amethyst 22mm pear drop.
STEP 3
Use luster grey #11 seed beads to create an approximately 11-1/2 inch long length of peyote stitch approximately six seed beads wide, the width of the leather cord. Secure the thread, then trim excess.

Cut a new length of thread, then string a needle. Sew the peyote stitch strip to one side of the leather cord leaving approximately 1/4 inch of leather on each end. Secure the thread, then trim excess.
STEP 4
Cut a new length of thread, then string a needle.

Pass the needle and thread up through one seed bead along the long edge of the peyote stitch strip, leaving an approximately 6-inch tail. String one light grey #15 seed bead, one amethyst 2mm round and one light grey #15 seed bead then pass down through the next #11 seed bead. Continue to picot stitch along the entire side of the design.
STEP 5
Pass through to the opposite side of the strip then continue to add a picot stitch for approximately 5-1/4 inches.

String three light Colorado topaz 4mm rondelles, one length of French wire and the bail on one 16mm pear drop. Pass the needle back through the beads, then continue through the next approximately 1/2 inch of seed beads along the edge. Create another beaded drop using five light Colorado topaz 4mm rondelles and the 22mm pear drop.

Continue through the next approximately 1/2 inch of seed beads then create a duplicate of the 16mm pear drop. Continue the picot stitch along the rest of the peyote stitch edge. Secure the thread, then trim excess.
STEP 6
Apply a small amount of E6000® Jewelry and Craft adhesive to the inside of one 10x6mm ribbon crimp end. Insert one end of the leather cord then compress the ribbon end over the cord, securing it in place. Repeat to attach a ribbon end to the opposite end of the cord.
STEP 7
Pass one 4mm jump ring through the first link on the 3-3/4 inch length of chain and the loop on one ribbon end, then close. Repeat to attach a second jump ring creating double jump rings.

Use double jump rings to attach the last 16mm pear drop to the last link on the length of chain.

Use double jump rings to attach the 3/4 inch length of chain to the opposite end of the leather cord and to attach the hook portion of the clasp to the last link of the chain.

Earrings

STEP 1
Mix Devcon 5 Minute 2-part epoxy according to manufacturer's instructions.

Apply a thin layer of epoxy to the center of the setting in one 16mm fishhook ear wire and the back of one 12mm rivoli. Press the rivoli into the setting.

Repeat to embellish the second ear wire, then allow to set for approximately 5 minutes.
STEP 2
Attach 10.5x7.5mm triangle design ice-pick bails to two amethyst 16mm pear drops.
STEP 3
Cut an approximately 1-yard length of FireLine thread and two 1/2 inch lengths of French wire.

Thread a beading needle onto one end of the thread, leaving an approximately 6-inch tail. Attach a stop bead to the end of the thread.
STEP 4
String enough gold luster grey #11 seed beads to fit the circumference of a 12mm rivoli, approximately 32 seed beads. Pass the needle through the seed beads once more. Pull the thread snug, but not tight, creating a ring, then tie a surgeon's knot.

Create a total of three rows of even count circular peyote stitch using #11 seed beads and two more rows using #15 seed beads.
STEP 5
Pass through the last #15 seed bead and step up.

String one #15 Delica seed bead then pass through the next three #15 seed bead from the previous rows. Continue to add a last row of #15 seed beads passing through the next three seed beads along the edge of the bezel.

Pass through adjacent seed beads in the rows exiting along the opposite edge. Insert the 12mm rivoli ear wire then create duplicate rows of #15 seed beads to secure the bezel around the rivoli.
STEP 6
Exit a seed bead along the second row of #11 seed beads, from the front of the bezel. String one amethyst 2mm round, skip a seed bead and pass through the next seed bead in the row. Continue the circular peyote using 2mm rounds along the second row of the bezel. Continue to create a second row of amethyst 2mm rounds.
STEP 7
String one amethyst 2mm round, skip a seed bead and pass through the next seed bead in the row. Continue the circular peyote using 2mm rounds around the entire second row. Continue to create a second circular peyote stitch row using amethyst 2mm rounds.
STEP 8
Pass through the rows exiting the third row, directly across from the ear wire.

String the following:
  • Two #11 seed beads
  • One light Colorado topaz 4mm rondelle
  • One length of French wire
  • The bail on one 16mm pear drop
Pass the needle back through the beads, then continue through the next seed bead in the third row, creating a beaded drop.
