Cut a length of Fireline thread that is slightly over arm length. Tie one end to a loop on the top outer edge of a 43mm carved bone focal.
Use circular brick stitch to add 10 rows around the focal. Pass through various beads to exit three beads off center at the top of the focal.
Use brick stitch to add a row of seven #11 seed beads. Continue to use brick stitch to add five more rows, decreasing each time to create a triangle.
Stitch nine rows of 2-bead brick stitch.
Repeat Step 3 in reverse to create a second brick-stitch triangle.
Bring the bottom of the second triangle back to the edge of the focal and stitch tightly to the edge beads just under the first triangle.
Pass through various beads to secure the thread, create a small knot for additional security if desired, and trim any excess thread.
Add a beading needle to an arm’s length of thread.
Leaving an 8-inch tail, create a section of ladder stitch that is six beads in length.
Pass through the first bead and the last bead twice, pulling tight to create a circle. Pass through again, exiting the opposite side of the circle than the tail.
Use tubular chenille stitch to create a beaded rope.
Reduce the stitch for the last three rows to create a tapered end. Do not trim the thread.
Cut the head off a head pin and create a wrapped loop on one end of the wire. Tightly stitch the wrapped loop to the end of the beaded rope. Pass through various beads and tie a small knot to secure the thread. Trim any excess thread.
Add a beading needle to the tail at the beginning of the beaded rope. Reduce the stitch for three rows to create a tapered end then repeat Step 11.
String the focal onto the beaded rope.
String a cone and a 3mm round onto the wire at the end of the beaded rope then create a wrapped loop. Repeat at the opposite end.
Use a 4mm jump ring to add half a clasp to each end of the necklace.
Cut an arm’s length of thread. Tie one end to the outer loop on the long side of an oval carved bone focal.
Using #11 seed beads, create a row of brick stitch along the edge of the focal 19 beads long. Continue to add rows, reducing with each, to create a triangle that ends with a row of two.
Pick up seven seed beads then pass back through the last row of brick stitch. Pull tight to create a loop. Pass through the loop again, including the beads of the last row.
Pass through various beads to secure the thread. Tie a small knot for additional security if desired then trim any excess thread.
Attach the loop of an ear wire to the beaded loop.
Repeat Steps 1 - 4 to create a second earring.
