Where do you live?
Virginia Beach, Virginia

Describe your artistic style.

What inspires you as a designer-artist?
Color, shape and my imagination.

What materials do you most enjoy working with?
There are no real specifics, but crystals, organic--bone and horn, gemstones, unusual and lampwork glass.

What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
Flower Eyeglass Holder

What inspired this design?
A customer requested something "fabulous, sparkly and attention grabbing" in all crystals.

How did it come together?
Once I "played" with the flower design, I just kept adding different colors. It began as an anklet.

Who introduced you to beading?
A very close friend, Nancy.

Do you have an artistic background?
Only in so far as I have practiced several crafts since I was young.

How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®?
Very long ago through the internet when I first began buying beads and supplies online.

What other hobbies do you have?
Sewing, knitting and reading.

Do you belong to any beading societies or beading groups?
Bead Society of South East Virginia.

Beading Success

What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Since retirement in 2008, I have made this my full-time career. It is my source of relaxation and serenity.

If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
Website, some craft stores, I have placed my items in several boutiques. No contests or mailings.

Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
I belong to an ArtFire guild who supports and donates to several charity organizations, AJDJSS (ArtFire Jewelry Design and Supply Guild).

Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Once you become aware of a desire to learn--strive forward, take classes, use your imagination.
