||Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
Describe your artistic style.
I think my style is fresh and simple. The pieces I make are very wearable.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
My family and friends inspire me. Most of the pieces I make are for a specific individual. I also am inspired by nature.
What materials do you most enjoy working with?
I really enjoy working with gemstones and freshwater pearls.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
What inspired this design?
My sister Katy has two beautiful children. Their birthstones are peridot and turquoise; both gemstones are amongst my favorites!
How did it come together?
I knew I wanted to combine the peridot and turquoise and it came together as I began to work. I worked on and off for a couple hours a day. I really like the clasp and hadn't used one like that before.

When and how did you begin making jewelry/beading?
I began making jewelry about six years ago. I was shopping at a craft store and loved all of the beautiful beads and findings.
Who introduced you to beading?
No one in particular. I am fascinated by the history and symbology of beads. Just started on my own.
Do you have an artistic background?
I just love to craft! Beading is my passion. No ''true'' artistic schooling or background though.
How did you discover Fire Mountain Gems and Beads®?
I first noticed Fire Mountain Gems and Beads in BeadStyle magazine. I checked out your website and have been hooked ever since. I love you all!
What other hobbies do you have?
I love to sew and quilt. I also enjoy making household décor items (wall hangings, frames, flowerpots). Someday I would like to try stained glass and bead-making.
What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Beading is a hobby that soothes and relaxes me. I would like to be able to bead for a living one day. My daughters bead with me and we love it.
Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
I have made a couple of pink bracelets for women I know who are breast cancer survivors.
Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Don't be afraid to try new things! Beading is a wonderful way to express yourself.
