|Meet the Designer-Artist
Where do you live?
Describe your artistic style.
I am a traditional native beadworker and I have been beading since I was a young girl. I make regalia, and hand drums. I have had a beading business for many years.
What inspires you as a designer-artist?
The cultural values I was raised with.
What materials do you most enjoy working with?
Small seed beads, three cuts are my favorite, I have also worked with Delicas in the past but their shape is cumbersome at times.
What is the name of the piece you submitted with your success story?
What inspired this design?
The design represents all of the veterans in our family through all of the years, and the flower is taken from my daughter's moccasins when she was young, it represents protection for my granddaughter.

What other hobbies do you have?
I am a drum maker as well. I also enjoy fly fishing, quill working, and science.
What role does jewelry-making play in your life?
Beadwork is so ingrained in me I do not think I could live without it in my life. It is something I do and it is prayerful each bead holding the good intentions and prayers for the owner of the object made.
If you used jewelry-making as a way to bring in income, how are you selling yourself and your jewelry?
I have some things on a tribal website, but mostly from word of mouth.
Do you participate in any charity fundraisers?
Yes, I have donated beadwork and drums to many tribes helping them to raise monies for their houses of knowledge.
Any advice for aspiring jewelry-artists?
Follow your heart, never bead when you are upset or mad because your feelings ultimately are weaved into your work.
