Yummy Yellow

Have you noticed how much fun the color "yellow" can be? After all, it's a bright, sunny color that promotes all kinds of outdoor activities, including a trip down a yellow brick road or in a yellow submarine. When it comes to snacks Screaming Yellow Zonkers can't help but grab your attention. And for fashion colors, yellow has many ways to express itself. Soft, muted shades (such as Halifax) whisper "mellow yellow" and big BOLD tones, (such as Ferris Wheel) shout "HELLO, YELLOW!" The color has even branched out into pop culture with Minion Yellow, a PANTONE® color based on the Despicable Me characters.

For scrumptious edible varieties such as lemon meringue and citrus it seductively beckons the taste buds with a trend we call Yummy Yellow.

"Yellow is a very favorable vibration for mental or intellectual activity, as it promotes a clear state of mind. Yellow heightens your awareness and alleviates depression, sadness, or any kind of despondency. Yellow vibration foods are: pineapples, bananas, grapefruit, lemons and corn."

Yellow Apparel

Basic yellow is a bright color and tends--like red--to dominate. That's why you often see a monochrome color scheme of just yellow. Take some care in matching it with other colors. According to color theory orange-yellow and yellow-green are analogous to yellow for an easier match. Green is an offspring of yellow and blue, and matches well with both. Yellow has always made a great contrast with black, especially black stripes or patterns, and it works great with muted colors such as gray, beige or light blue. However, adventurous lovers of mod and pop art styles will have no problem mixing yellow with its complementary primary colors red and blue, all displayed in large, eye-grabbing geometric shapes and patterns.

Accessories

Even if the apparel has no yellow, it can still play a vital role in the total presentation. According to WGSN:

"Yellow is becoming a key colour for footwear and accessories. A range of shades have been spotted on the catwalks, at trade shows, and on the streets for both the men's and women's markets."

Yellow belts, bags, shoes and jewelry can add just the right splash of color to an otherwise muted ensemble. Here are some jewelry design ideas that feature yellow:
