Note: The illustrations use #8 seed beads for colors A and B and #11 seed beads for colors C and D.

STEP 1
Cut a 3-foot length of stringing material. Thread a beading needle, leaving a tail.
STEP 2
Pick up the following pattern of seed beads:
  • One A bead
  • One B bead
  • One A bead
  • One C bead
  • One D bead
Pass through all the beads again. Pull thread tight to create a circle and secure with a surgeon's knot.
STEP 3
Pass through the first A, pick up an A then pass through the next B.
STEP 4
Pick up a B then pass through the next A.
STEP 5
Pick up an A then pass through the adjacent C.

Pick up one C and two D then pass through the next D.
STEP 6
Pass through the A added in Step 3, then pick up an A.
STEP 7
Pass through the B added in Step 4, then pick up a B.
STEP 8
Pass through the A added in Step 5, then pick up an A.
STEP 9
Pass through the C added in Step 6, then pick up one C and three Ds.
STEP 10
Repeat Steps 6 - 9, increasing the number of Ds by one on each row until the spiral reaches the desired maximum diameter.

Note: The weave shown below stopped at four Ds per row.

Continue to repeat Steps 6 - 9, using the same number of Ds, until the spiral is nearing the desired length.
STEP 11
Repeat Steps 7 - 10, decreasing the number of Ds on each row, until the row only includes two D beads.
STEP 12
Pass through the last row added again, then weave through several adjacent beads to secure the thread. For additional security add a knot.

Thread a needle onto the tail created in Step 2 and repeat to secure the thread.
