Using Brads and Washers on Leather

by Michelle Wood, Jewelry-Making Expert, Exclusively for Fire Mountain Gems and BeadsĀ®

After punching a hole in the leather, lay the washer or component over the hole and push the brad through both pieces.
While holding the brad and washer in place, turn the leather over and lay it on a metal block.

Add a flat washer to the brad then trim the brad with side-cutters to about 2mm above the flat washer.
Using a ball peen hammer, hammer the brad flat against the washer securing the components in place.
