The magic of this deeply included stone is that the non-blue parts are UV-reactive, fluorescing a creamy pumpkin orange under longwave UV light.

This rare gemstone is a cousin to sodalite, appearing near deposits of lazurite and lapis lazuli. Afghanite was named for its first and most common location: the Nuristan province of Afghanistan.
